BRB: Taraji P. Henson Just Launched a Line at Target and We're Running to Shop It

It's a good day for beauty fanatics on a budget, because A-List actress Taraji P. Henson, a.k.a. everyone's favorite Empire character and dream-friend just launched a natural haircare line at mega-retailer Target (cue the cheers and applause).

The Academy Award-nominated star says she wants to become the "Fenty of Hair" (definitely something we're on board with), and called the debut collection—which features a solid range of 18 versatile products including scalp scrub, hair milk, co-wash, and gel mask— "TpH by TARAJI."

“I have always been into healthy hair—and knew that a healthy scalp would lead to healthier hair," Henson says. "There were no haircare lines that truly focused on scalp care. Early on in my career I was doing my own hair for the red carpet—I needed to have an interest in product formulas since I was always changing my looks. I’ve done them all. I learned quickly what formulas were my favorites, and the failures!”

She revealed that she's been creating her own products at home for nearly two decades.

"I had great results creating my scalp tonic and I knew other women would love to have those great results too, which is the root and the hero of my product line.”

TpH by TARAJI ranges from $8.99 to $14.99 and is available now at Target.com and in stores nationwide on January 29th.

In a strategic move, Henson told Essence she wanted to ensure the line was affordable, diverse, and inclusive. “I didn’t make it just for natural hair because I’ve worn every kind of hair," she said via phone interview. "I wanted to make a line that serviced everyone."

As for her lofty Fenty goals, she explained: "Rihanna hit the market with a bang because she was all-inclusive. And that’s smart. And for me, my audience is so diverse, my fans are so diverse. They’re so all over the place in age. And I have every ethnicity, every walk of life. What I realized buying Fenty, was, because I love Rihanna, I feel like I have a piece of her. So, I didn’t want to leave anybody out."

We love the look of the sleek, colorful packing and the catchy names of products. So far we've spotted a "Mint Condition" tingling scalp conditioner, "Ultra Chill" energizing and cooling serum, "Slick" edge control treatment, "Ride or Die" leave-in detangling conditioner, "Master Cleanse" targeted scalp wash, "Never Salty" sugar-based scalp and hair scrub, and "Make it Rain" hydration-rich conditioner. Um...shopping spree anyone? Seriously, those names alone sold us on taking an emergency trip to Target and stocking up, but the uber-cheerful packaging just makes us want to douse our hair in #allofthethings.
