Over the past several years, tabloids and gossip have spread all kinds of rumors implying that Prince William and Prince Harry were at odds with each other. That the two princes just could not seem to get along.
Well, it looks like that might not have been true. The two princes seem to have nothing but love for each other. Prince William basically said as much in a recent speech that held a very special message to his little brother, Prince Harry.
Prince William has tried to combat these feud rumors in the past. The Duke of Cambridge has told the media that he and Harry had nothing but love for each other on more than one occasion.
In the 2019 documentary, Harry And Meghan: An African Journey, Prince William put his feelings very plainly saying, “We’ll always be brothers.” He acknowledged that and he and Harry have very different lifestyles, but promised that he would always be there for his younger sibling.
It wasn’t just the two princes who were targets of these feud and in-fighting rumors. The press was adamant that there had to be something going on between their wives, Kate Middleton (Prince William) and Meghan Markle (Prince Harry).
These rumors insisted that the two women were competing with each other, often making Duchess Meghan the aggressor and insisting that she was jealous. The two brothers released a joint statement in response, pointing out how offensive these rumors are when the two care very deeply about mental health.
Prince Harry recently took a bold step in regard to the rumors and targeted harassment: He moved his family from the UK to Canada and has stepped down from his royal position. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex do intend to spend time in the UK throughout half the year, but they have been seen very much enjoying their time in their new home.
Harry has explicitly stated protection of his family from the press as motives for the move and has referenced the death of his mother in regard to this decision.
Prince William gave a speech on January 20 at the Buckingham Palace addressing attendees of the UK-Africa Investment Summit. The event was meant to promote investment opportunities in Africa.
During his speech, the Duke of Cambridge revealed how much the continent means to him, reminiscing on time spent bonding with his brother there and indirectly referencing struggles with the press. William spoke about the death of his mother, Princess Diana, and how his father, Prince Charles, took him and Harry to Africa to reconnect and cope.
