Vicki Gunvalson won’t be seen on the upcoming 15th season of The Real Housewives of Orange County when the series returns to Bravo later this year and after learning the news on Instagram on Friday, many have been left wondering whether or not Gunvalson quit or was fired.
Although Gunvalson suggested in her Instagram post that it was she who decided to walk away from the show after 14 years, a new report from Hollywood Life has suggested that she simply wasn’t asked to appear on the new episodes.
According to a Hollywood Life insider, Bravo decided to allow Gunvalson to walk away on her own terms after she was notified that she would not be included in the 15th season of the show in a full-time role.
“The network knew Vicki would take this hard so they wanted to let her know before making final casting decisions for everyone else next season,” the source explained.
As some may have heard, Gunvalson was adamant that she would not be returning to The Real Housewives of Orange County if she wasn’t able to reprise her role as a full-time cast member after being demoted last year ahead of Season 14.
While rumors have been swirling in regard to certain cast members, including Braunwyn Windham-Burke and Kelly Dodd, filming scenes for the new season, Andy Cohen revealed on Twitter days ago that production hadn’t yet begun on Season 15 and according to the Hollywood Life source, contracts haven’t yet been handed out. Instead, the cast is currently waiting to hear who will and won’t be included in the upcoming season and many of them are said to be feeling anxious in the meantime.
In April of last year, amid filming on The Real Housewives of Orange County, Gunvalson and Lodge became engaged after about three years of dating. Since then, the couple has been considering where they should wed and looking into a potential wedding in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, where they frequently visit.
While fans of Gunvalson would certainly love to see her walk down the aisle on the show, there is no longer a possibility of that happening and a Bravo wedding special seems equally as unlikely.
On Saturday, just hours after Bravo fans learned they’d seen the last of Gunvalson, Judge added to the shock with an exit announcement of her own on Instagram, telling her fans and followers she was leaving the series after 12 years.
“It’s been a wild 12 years . But it’s time for me to move on. I’m sad to go but very excited about my future,” she wrote at the time.
A while later, Gunvalson responded to her post, telling her longtime friend that despite the ups and downs they’ve endured, appearing on The Real Housewives of Orange County had been the ride of their lives.
Although some have suspected Shannon Beador, the final member of the “Tres Amigas,” will follow suit and leave the show as well, she has not yet announced any such news.
