Coldplay's upcoming 'Music of the Spheres World Tour' has had a request from PETA that needs them to serve entirely vegan meals.
Coldplay's Eco-Friendly World Tour
In celebration of their ninth studio album, Chris Martin and his band will go on a global stadium tour in 2022, which they vow will include the most environmentally friendly gigs they've ever done.

It follows the band's announcement in 2019 that they were taking time to think about how they would tour in the future in order to be as ecologically responsible as possible.
PETA Has Something To Say
PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has proposed that the band minimize their carbon footprint even more by solely eating plant-based food at the locations where they perform. This request has been given life in an open letter written to the 'My Universe' hitmakers.
Elisa Allen, the Director of PETA, wrote: “As you may know, animal agriculture contributes to many of the serious environmental problems the planet is facing.
“It’s little wonder, then, that the United Nations states that a transition to vegan eating is urgently needed to prevent the worst effects of the climate crisis. And this can be as simple as swapping beef burgers for bean burgers.
“We hope you’ll agree that cutting damaging animal-derived foods from concert venues is a no-brainer.”
Sustainable Entertainment Is Indeed Possible
On a new sustainability section of Coldplay's official website, the band's eco-friendly measures for their world tour in support of their new album 'Music Of The Spheres' have been laid forth. You can take a look here.
The forthcoming events will be powered entirely by renewable energy, and fans who take public transportation to the shows will be rewarded.
The 'Clocks' hitmakers are also offering 10% of ticket proceeds to climate change organizations, with a tree being planted for every ticket sold.
Aiming At Net-Zero Carbon Footprint
The Grammy-winners have also partnered with Climeworks, the pioneers of direct air capture, to ensure that their 'Music of the Spheres World Tour' has a net-zero carbon footprint.
In a statement, they said: “Playing live and finding connection with people is ultimately why we exist as a band. We’ve been planning this tour for years, and we’re super excited to play songs from across our whole time together.

"At the same time, we’re very conscious that the planet is facing a climate crisis.
"So we’ve spent the last two years consulting with environmental experts to make this tour as sustainable as possible, and, just as importantly, to harness the tour’s potential to push things forward.
The World Needs It
"We won’t get everything right, but we’re committed to doing everything we can and sharing what we learn. It’s a work in progress and we’re really grateful for the help we’ve had so far.”

Coldplay's Guy Berryman said in an interview with NME about the tour's long-term viability: “I think we’ve made a great start at the moment. Whatever we end up doing, will be Phase One, but there always has to be an improvement and a continual cycle.
“If you want to pick holes, and I’m sure someone can and will, I think that’s fine: what you have to do is embrace the idea of continued progress. It has to be an ever-evolving situation.”
