Following Season Nine of Shameless, fans were concerned with the show continuing because of the departure of a big character, the oldest sibling of the family, Fiona, played by Emmy Rossum. Without batting an eye, Fiona passes the torch of family director to her younger sister, Debbie, played by Emma Kenney, for Season 10.
The British show by the same name also ran for 11 seasons, marking the finale in the US version. According to Deadline, Gary Levine, the President of Entertainment at Showtime Networks announces the season renewal.
It just hit me that there's no more episodes and I have to wait for season 11….. 🙁#shameless

It was during the Winter Television Critics Association Press Tour when Levine makes this announcement. He starts with,
“Airing this summer, it will be one last hurrah for the Gallaghers and their unique blend of love and lechery,” and continues with,
“John Wells and his gifted cast promise to take Shameless out for a bang, and knowing Gallaghers we all as we all do, that is no idle threat.”
John Wells adds, sharing sentiment, “I’m unbelievably thankful for all of the years of support from Gary Levine and everyone at Showtime that’s allowed us to make Shameless,”
“It’s been a fantastic experience and all of us in the cast and crew have had a wonderful time following the lives of the Gallagher family and friends. It’s been a pleasure!”
As far as we know, Fiona won’t be on air with the rest of the family, but you never know. She could show up for one final appearance, a positive and welcomed thought shared by fans of the show. The thing is, her possible return isn’t that hard to envision.
One of the other siblings, Ian, played by Cameron Monaghan, left the show temporarily. His character played a HUGE role in Season 10. His love interest and complications stealing much of the plot.
“I would never close my door on the family, they should just think of me being down the block. I’m just in New York. It’s not like I’ll never be in L.A. or Chicago ever again, so I’m not that far away.” Raising hope for fans, then going on to say,
“But for me, quite honestly, I’m not sure what more story can be told for her. I really liked the way we ended it. But never say never; I really love all the people I work with.”
One thing fans can count on is seeing Steve Howey’s character, Kevin, returning for Season 11 of Shameless!
