Tracee Ellis Ross may be the most private celebrity that I know of. Sure, if you follow her Instagram, she’ll share her latest outfits and work projects. But, if you plan to add her hoping to know what’s happening in her love life, forget about it. Which is why it’s kind of shocking to hear of details that not only is she dating a new man, but he’s been identified! Before I tell you who it is, name a celebrity you think Tracee Ellis Ross would date.
Okay, did you imagine Kenya Barris? Because that is Tracee’s rumored boyfriend. Kenya Barris works in television as a writer. Aside from possibly meeting at an industry event, these two may have also met behind the scenes, because Barris created Black-ish, the telvision series Ross appears on, and also produces Grown-ish, the spin-off show to Ross’s television series. Love B Scott reports Barris filed for divorce from his wife of 20 years, Dr. Rania “Rainbow” Barris, back in August 2019.
Kenya and his wife Rania share six children together. Barris’s show, Black-ish is actually inspired by his real-life marriage. In other words, a real spark may have been lit, while Tracee Ellis Ross played his TV wife. Was she finding out what to expect from a relationship with Barris while filming the show? No major details have been given about their new relationship. This news won’t come as a surprise for fans of Ellis, because they know how private she is when it comes to discussing her romantic life.
In 2012, she was linked to music executive, Abou ‘Bu’ Thiam. While being featured in Uptown magazine, Ross was asked about their relationship, to which she replied, “I am not talking about it.” But, when Thiam sat down with The Breakfast Club, he opened up about their relationship, even explaining why they broke up. “I believe that being with somebody…it’s like managing…it’s a real job. It’s a real responsibility. … And she’s in a place in her career that if I can’t give her all of me, I don’t wanna waste- not…waste her time.”
He continued, “- but I don’t wanna put her in that space. … So why not give her opportunity to find somebody else that can.” Sounds like Tracee requires her man to spend time with her and he didn’t know how to multi-task. Well, it’s been eight years since any other man has been linked with Ross; until now. Will she finally change her decision to shield her romanatic life, and happily date Kenya Barris in public? Only time will tell.
