There’s been a new update in the Britney Spears’ conservatorship case as her dad makes a new legal move.

According to new reports, Jamie Spears has hired a new lawyer as his daughter’s conservatorship trial date gets closer.

Jamie has filed for Alex Weingarten, a partner at Willkie Farr & Gallagher’s litigation department, to become his new attorney.

The patriarch made the move after his lead counsel Vivian Lee Thoreen and the law firm Holland & Knight dropped him as a client.

It was reported that Jamie was dropped as the firm feared the consequences that would follow after he was dropped as Britney’s conservator.

Following his suspension, Britney’s lawyer Mathew Rosengart declared that he would investigate the patriarch for misconduct and sue him.

A source revealed, “Mathew Rosengart has asserted numerous times that he is going to investigate and sue Jamie. If/when he does, Jamie will need to defend and likely be adverse to parties in the conservatorship.”

Although Thoreen dropped Jamie as a client, she was responsible for selecting Weingarten as her replacement.

Weingarten has fully accepted the new position as Jamie’s attorney as they prepare for the conservatorship trial slated for November 12.
