Aside from their successful careers in the entertainment industry, Grammy award-winning singer Olivia Newton-John and TV personality Hoda Kotb are also breast cancer survivors.
On a recent episode of the “Today” show, the women bonded as they got emotional while discussing the hardships they faced while dealing with the deadly condition.
Breast Cancer Sisters
As reported by PEOPLE, during Kotb’s interview with the “Hopelessly Devoted To You” singer, the NBC host praised Newton-John for remaining optimistic despite her long battle with breast cancer.
The mother-of-two got emotional and recalled facing similar struggles with the disease after she was diagnosed 14 years ago.
Kotb also compared her endurance to that of the singer, who asked the host if she was okay upon the shocking revelation.

Touched by her kindness, the 53-year-old paused for a moment to express her profound gratitude to the iconic “Grease” actress. In response, the four-time Grammy Award winner said,
“Oh, of course. We’re sisters. Anyone that has gone on this journey with cancer, it’s unknown destinations and surprises and turns.”
The “Please Mr. Please” crooner was initially diagnosed with cancer in 1992, followed by another wave in 2013.
Despite beating the disease twice, it returned in 2017 with an act of vengeance and spread to the 73-year-old’s bones.
However, the “Two Of A Kind” star has previously clarified that she doesn’t see her condition as a “battle.” The actress stated that she was winning over the disease and getting stronger with time.
Her Biggest Supporter
In July, The Blast revealed that the biggest supporter of the best-selling artist during her battles with breast cancer was none other than her loving husband, John Easterling.
The 73-year-old explained that her spouse gave her strength and comfort while she endured the pains of medications and radiation treatments. He also managed her discomfort with the use of his company’s herbs and cannabis.
Newton-John indicated that these traditional remedies have positively influenced her recovery. Although she didn’t explain how these herbs worked or how she used them, it was clear the singer was doing great.
The lovebirds married in 2008 at a special ceremony held in Peru, followed by a formal event to celebrate their nuptials with their family and friends in Florida.
The pair currently live in a luxurious Santa Barbara mansion, which they purchased in 2015.
A Woman With A Big Heart
As a breast cancer survivor, Newton-John is a strong advocate for health issues and has been involved in various humanitarian causes.
The mother-of-one created the Olivia Newton-John foundation to spread cancer awareness and fund research into plant medicine for cancer treatment.
She also serves as the spokeswoman for “Liv-Kit,” a product that can be used for self-examination of breast cancer. Despite struggling with her condition, the icon strives to make the world a healthy and cancer-free place.
