Britney Spears' father, Jamie Spears, is facing a minor challenge as his daughter's conservatorship trial date approaches.

As reported by Page Six, Jamie was dropped by the law firm Holland & Knight when his lead counsel Vivian Lee Thoreen advised him to find a new lawyer following the aftermath of his suspension as Britney's conservator last month.

According to the publication, Britney's lawyer Mathew Rosengart following the suspension of Jamie, declared that he was hell-bent on completely removing the singer's conservatorship and investigating her father for misconduct.

Due to a possible investigation into Jamie and the prospect of the patriarch being sued by Britney's lawyers, it is believed that Thoreen advised him to get another litigator as H&K was no longer interested in representing him. An insider told the publication:

They don’t want to fund this anymore because when you represent a suspended conservator it makes it much more likely that fees you’ve already obtained could be disgorged and future fees may not be paid from the estate.

New Lawyer Alert!

In documents obtained by NBC News, Jamie has now hired a new lawyer by the name of Alex Weingarten. Weingarten is a partner in the litigation department of Willkie Farr & Gallagher.

He filed the change of attorney on Tuesday in the Los Angeles County Superior Court. As for the sudden reason why Jamie decided to hire a new lawyer, a source said to People Magazine:

Mathew Rosengart has asserted numerous times that he is going to investigate and sue Jamie. If/when he does, Jamie will need to defend and likely be adverse to parties in the conservatorship.

Weingarten has since accepted the role of Jamie's lawyer but hasn't publicly commented on his new position. Nevertheless, Jamie and H&K didn't reportedly part ways on bad terms as he was impressed with the work they did.

Jamie was removed as his daughter's conservator on September 29, as The Blast previously reported. Rosengart asked the court to kick out Jamie from the conservatorship, citing abuse.

Following the victory, accountant John Zabel was temporarily appointed as her conservator as Rosengart prepares to have Britney's conservatorship thrown out completely next month. November 12, 2021, has been set as the date for the court hearing where it will all be decided.
