Wendy Williams is a single woman once again after it was revealed that her divorce from ex-husband Kevin Hunter had officially been finalized.
It was quite a lengthy process given that the TV star host filed the legal documents all the way back in April 2019 — the same month Wendy fired Kevin from his position as the executive producer on her daytime talk show.
According to reports, however, things weren’t all that simple when it came to dividing their assets and properties since the former couple shared almost everything they owned.
Wendy and Kevin came to an amicable agreement on a number of things, such as the sale made from their home in Livingston, NJ will be equally divided.
And while the mother-of-one will get to keep their home in Florida, Hunter gets to walk away with the proceeds he earned from selling a house in Morristown, NJ he had previously owned.
As far as their divorce was concerned, settling who was going to get what property seemed much easier compared to figuring out how Kevin would make his exit from Wendy Williams Productions — a company he founded with his ex-wife back in 2013.
Sources revealed that since Wendy and Kevin owned equal shares, Williams is said to offer her ex-husband an undisclosed amount which will see him subtracted from the production company entirely. It’s unclear, however, what the sum added up to — but it’s still sure to have been a hefty fee for the 55-year-old.
Either way, there seems little to no doubt that the former radio personality is happy to be moving on with her life, particularly now that she will also fully own her production company and peacefully move on with her life.
Williams had mentioned in the past that, despite her ongoing divorce process, she still hoped to remain good friends with Kevin. The two share a 19-year-old son, Kevin Hunter Jr., together, and while that plays an important factor, above all, there was a genuine bond that Wendy once shared with her ex.
If anything, despite her marriage falling apart, Williams would want nothing more than for Kevin to be happy in his new life, showing clear signs that their split didn’t end nasty.
“I mean, and not because we have a son but because that was real love. I still love him just not in that way,” she told Sway in the Morning last year. “You either in or you are out with me. I still have love for him and I wish him the best in his new life with his new family.”
Wendy Williams’ divorce filing came almost a year after it was claimed that Kevin Hunter was living a double life with his rumored mistress, Sharina Hudson, who welcomed a baby girl in March 2019.
And interestingly enough, by April of that same year, Wendy had filed for divorce.
