The internet has always been a place where if you are not careful you could easily get scammed. It is really not that hard to take a picture of a celebrity and put a quote next to it. Apparently this makes a lot of people trust certain products.

This is exactly what happened to Tom Hanks recently. As his image was used to endorse a company that sells CBD products. Which, according to that particular company Hanks is quite the avid user of their product.

Dr Oz Echoed Tom Hanks' Comments

As you can see in the picture Tom Hanks was not the only celebrity that was used in the endorsement. CANNAPRO CBD is actually developed with any type of technology that was pioneered by Doctor Oz.

That endorsement actually looks faker than just putting Tom Hanks up there. Doctor Oz probably too busy doing all of his TV work to actually be putting in the research that a product like this would require. So it is pretty safe to say that there was just no truth in this advertisement at all.

Will There Be Legal Actions Taken?

At this point, there is no evidence to support the fact that Hanks or Doctor Oz are going to be filing a lawsuit against this company. Since a lot of the information out there is fake though you never know what could potentially happen.

For the CBD company to come out pretty clean from this situation would be amazing. They are getting a lot of free press from the likes of Tom Hanks! Although it is bad publicity all of the top publicists always want to say, bad press is better than no press.

How to Avoid Getting Scammed

The fact that this particular product actually came across Tom Hanks' desk and he realized that his image was being used without his consent is not common. The reality is that there are a lot of products out there with fake celebrity endorsements that people are still buying.

The best way to ensure that you don't get scammed by these products is actually to monitor the celebrity's social media presence. These ads actually pay very well when they are real endorsements. When someone is actually endorsing a product they are going to let people know about it. It is not going to be something that they hide.

An Honorable Mention

Fans were quick to comment on Tom`s Instagram post once we declared that he was not involved with this company. Many interesting comments such as "Forrest Hemp" were put on the comment section. Former Today anchor Katie Couric also wrote, "Yes and I never endorsed any wrinkle cream although I could probably use some #ridiculous."

This was not really about Katie at all but it is ok if you want to participate. The moral of the story is that you really should be careful about what you read online.
