Derick Dillard has been an outspoken critic of some aspects of the Duggar family that he married into, and now another “Counting On” star is making her support for him clear. As pointed out by InTouch Weekly, Amy Duggar sent a tweet last week directly to Dillard which thanked him for airing some of the dirty laundry.
“@derickmdillard you really are shedding some light on some very dark gray areas! Keep it up!” she wrote.
Fans in her mentions had thoughts.
“Amy you can help share some insight as well, i know you are busy with your son but the world needs to know about this. there is too much abuse within families like this and the dark needs to be brought to light!” one said.
“So this is true? The adult Duggars do not get compensated for being on the show? With their own families to support this is ridiculous,” another replied.
“If he’d be more open minded and non-judgmental and didn’t vote to restrict Americans’ rights simply because of their sexuality, I’d like him. He gets one point in the respect column for shedding light on what JB has done,” another wrote, referencing homophobic comments Dillard has made in the past.

Dillard’s main point of contention has been with family patriarch Jim Bob Duggar and how he handles the money they family gets from TLC for their shows.
“Notice how we were not a part of the promotional for this,” Dillard tweeted last week. “They tried to force Jill to be in the promotional pic for this show, but we refused. So they just inserted other sisters from the home.”
Dillard has claimed that Jim Bob is the only family member who has profited from the shows.
“I thought it was fair to ask in negotiating,” Dillard wrote on social media in the past. “TLC made lots of money in filming a birth special episode, and they had not offered to pay us anything. So I thought, at the very least, they could reimburse 5-10K for medical expenses. TLC sure made more than that off of us.”
Over the holidays, he revealed and he and his wife weren’t allowed in the family house.
“We’re not allowed in the house when [Jim Bob] isn’t there,” Dillard wrote. “Jill even has to ask [his] permission to go over to the house to help her sister when she was in labor because her sister wanted help, but Jill couldn’t provide assistance until we got it cleared from J.B.”
