From nearly the beginning of their storied careers as boyband heartthrobs, The Jonas Brothers, Nick, Kevin, and Joe Jonas all became famous for their catchy music, hit television show, and legions of obsessive fans. However, one of the biggest claims to fame had virtually nothing to do with their creative abilities, and it was their choice to remain abstinent from sexual intercourse until marriage. This choice has seemingly followed them around their entire career, but one Jonas in particular held the focus the most.

The three brothers, who all hail from New Jersey, were brought up as evangelical Christians by an Assemblies of God pastor and were also homeschooled for the entire duration of their primary education in a strictly devout environment. These situational circumstances led the three, who were then only eighteen years old, to adopt the controversial purity rings for, what Joe claimed to The Huffington Post back then as "promises to ourselves and to God that we’ll stay pure till marriage.”

Of course, all three brothers removed their rings eventually, but only one seemed to wholly stay the course with remaining abstinent and in line with his core beliefs until he found the right person.

His moment came around shortly after in 2007 during a vacation to the Bahamas, where the eldest Jonas met former hairstylist Danielle Delesea (now Danielle Jonas). The pair dated for two years before a 21 year old Jonas decided to propose to Delesea in 2009.

According to an interview by People Kevin was nearly instantly smitten by Danielle, and when it came time for him to propose he was quoted having said, “It was tough performing last night, knowing that I was going to ask the biggest question in my life to the most amazing girl in the world,”

Now, on the heels of their tenth wedding anniversary, Jonas reflects on the journey up until this point, and how abstinence played a major role in it.

In reference to the difficulty it was abstaining from any sexual activity with one another initially, he said, “I could’ve gotten married the day after we got engaged,” once again speaking to People after their marriage, “We’d have gone crazy waiting any longer.” The pair was wed at Long Island’s Oheka Castle, and Joe and Kevin served as best men during the long-awaited ceremony. The pair adjourned to Mexico for a romantic honeymoon before coming back to New Jersey to begin their lives as a married couple.

Now ten years after exchanging their vows and still happily wed, the couple live in New Jersey still and now have two children of their own, Alena Rose Jonas and Valentina Angelina Jonas. Kevin is still touring with The Jonas Brothers and the group has been surging in popularity just as they did nearly a decade ago, released their comeback album 'Happiness Begins' last June to massive acclaim from fans. Having moved past their famed abstinence and into their own respective careers, the eldest Jonas' reflection on his past choices make for truly interesting commentary into who he is now.
