The 2021 NBA season is underway, as the Brooklyn Nets are losing one of the biggest key pieces of their team. This is All-Star Guard, and former NBA champion, Kyrie Irving.
The point guard has been making headlines over the past few months, due to refusing to get vaccinated, against COVID-19. The vaccine mandate in New York City, states that Irving would have to be vaccinated, in order to be at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. Irving made it known that he isn’t anti-vax, but is standing up for people, who are losing their jobs, over these COVID vaccine mandates. Now, Irving seems to be willing to miss games every home game in Brooklyn, which is definitely detrimental, to the Nets’ championship aspirations.

Howard Stern Blasts Kyrie Irving On Radio Show
On Tuesday, Howard Stern took to his SiriusXM radio show, and didn’t hold back, when it comes to voicing his opinion, on Irving still refusing to get vaccinated. The radio legend went as far as calling the Nets star an “idiot,” and a “douchebag.” For Stern, Irving is also viewed as the “top idiot,” in the United States, over his vaccine takes, and refusal to get the vaccine shots.
“In terms of idiots, he’s got to be the top idiot in the country right now,” Stern explained. “Guy’s got a chance as a young man to make millions of dollars, all he’s got to do is get vaccinated but he doesn’t want to get vaccinated. This guy’s got a history of being stupid. He’s one of those guys who was a flat-earther too. And, you know what, he doesn’t know anything. His mind works in a very strange way.”
Stern Loves The Way The Nets Are Handling The Situation
Stern went on to give high praise to the Nets organization, for not letting Irving be around their team, until he’s vaccinated. Stern feels that they’re doing such a fine job, that he wishes that they were actually running the US. Currently, Irving can’t even practice with the team, as he maintains his stance that he is fine with losing millions of dollars. Despite this situation, Irving emphasized in an Instagram Live session last week, that he isn’t retiring from the NBA, but is against the vaccine mandate.
“I don’t know who runs the Brooklyn Nets, but I wish they were running the country,” Stern continued. I love this. Basically saying, ‘Listen, douchebag. You’ve got to do what is right. That’s it.'”
Irving Officially Missed The Nets’ First Home Game Of 2021-22 Season
On Tuesday night, it was still widely know, that Irving still wasn’t vaccinated at all. This was evident in the fact that he wasn’t available for his Nets, as they opened their 2021-22 regular season, vs the defending NBA champion, Milwaukee Bucks. Brooklyn ended up taking a blowout loss, 127-104. Superstars Kevin Durant and James Harden both had solid games, but it wasn’t enough to overpower Giannis Antetokounmpo and Milwaukee, who are still viewed as serious championship contenders, again. For the Nets, many feel that they can’t win a championship, without the availability of Irving.
