In a speech given this week, Prince William named the United States as the host country for next year’s awards ceremony.
A trip to the United States for Prince William and Kate could be on the cards in a year, it was revealed tonight. The royal pair may go to the United States to attend the second Earthshot Prize awards event, which will take place next fall.

During his visit on stage tonight in north London after the five winners for 2021 were named, the Prince confirmed that the United States would host the awards next year.
Earthshots Are Important
“I hope you agree that London and the U.K. has put on quite a show for our first year,” William said. “So for the second year, we need to pass the baton to a country whose leadership is essential for all five of our Earthshots.
Where better than the nation that inspired the moonshot all those years ago. I’m delighted to announce that the Earthshot Prize will be heading to the United States of America in 2022.”

The Prince then presented John Kerry, the United States’ Special Presidential Envoy for Climate Change, who stated, “The finalists and winners that we recognize this evening remind us that we do have an incredible ability to turn the improbable into reality if we work together.”
USA Is Important
There were no more specifics about the ceremony’s location in the United States available at the time. It’s also worth mentioning that no special guests were flown in for tonight’s event, which strove to be as environmentally friendly as possible.
Kensington Palace refused to disclose any details, saying that further information would be released later.

When Kate was pregnant with Princess Charlotte, William and Kate’s last official travel to the United States was to New York in December 2014.
They had previously visited California at the conclusion of a tour of Canada in 2011, with Kate donning the Alexander McQueen gown she wore at the time to tonight’s awards.

Guests at tonight’s party were urged to repurpose items from their closets or select items that supported the recycling and reuse theme. Five winners were named during the evening, with each earning £1 million to assist them scale up their innovation.

One of the winners was revealed by the Duchess of Cambridge, who gave a short statement emphasizing the significance of the natural environment. “Nature is vital to us all. A thriving natural world regulates our climate, nurtures our physical and mental health and helps feed our families,” she said.
“But for too long, we’ve neglected our wild spaces and now we’re facing a number of tipping points. If we don’t act now, we will permanently destabilize our planet and we will rob our children of the future they deserve.”

This evening, Prince William sent a message to “all the young people watching tonight.” “For too long, we haven’t done enough to protect the planet for your future.

The Earthshot is for you. In the next ten years we are going to act, we are going to find the solutions to repair our planet. Please keep learning, keep demanding change, and don’t give up hope. We will rise to these challenges.”
