She then noted that the woman appreciated her for being an icon that "young girls" can look up to.

Gomez expressed that before then, she had never seen herself as a role model. "I remember being a little confused at first because I guess I didn't really know that I didn't have someone like that, and I'm honored to be that for a lot of young girls," the actress said.

Gomez Made A Documentary For Immigrants

The statements by the fan impacted Gomez so much that she decided to make an impact on all her fans, especially young girls. She resolved to create an avenue through which she could advocate for and defend undocumented immigrants in the U.S.

She also produced a documentary series called "Living Undocumented," which focused on the difficulties undocumented people, especially the Latina community, face in the United States.

The series followed eight families living in different states in the U.S. who had issues with their immigration status.
