Samantha Hoopes is a veteran in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit world, as she’s been gracing the pages of the coveted issue for years, but this year there’s something different about the star, because she’s a mom. Hoopes will be returning for her 7th year as a model for the SI Swim issue, but it will be her first modeling gig since giving birth to her son 4 months ago.
Sports Illustrated made the announcement Friday morning, sharing a video of Hoopes getting ready for her shoot.
“MODEL REVEAL: @samanthahoopes is back for her SEVENTH year with #SISwim and her first as a mom!” they wrote.
Hoopes told fans she wanted to send a message that you can be “confident and strong” while still dealing with the not-so-glamorous things that come with being a mom and raising a baby.
Hoopes told fans she’s “proud” of what she’s accomplished with growing her family. “I have the most beautiful son, he’s healthy, I’m healthy and I feel blessed,” she explained.
After her photo shoot she shared some words on the experience and what it means returning back to the pages of Sports Illustrated.
“So many emotions running through my mind right now!!! I am so honored, proud & thankful for my @si_swimsuit family! Starting 7 years ago I was a young girl who had no idea what was a head! I grew up with this brand and they We’re my mentors & my inspiration for hard working boss women! Shooting this year was special for me because I had my baby 4 months ago! I’m not perfect and I am pretty sure perfect doesn’t even exist!”
She continued about her journey going forward as both a mom and model, and reflected on how much she’s grown from when she first began her career and life.
“I am proud of my body because it is strong, healthy & now full of marks and stretchy skin from producing me most beautiful thing in my life, my son! I look at myself here compared to my first year and I see a woman who is excited to share with you my journey into motherhood! Shout out to the best crew, glam, and esp my photographer @josie_clough who shot my last year #siswim pregnant!! Crazy to think that one year later we would be able to be boss women shooting and coming back to our sons!!! So much love for everyone! Cheers to 2020 and sharing real stories and not worrying about making everything look “perfect.”
During the early stages of her son’s life, Hoopes has been a big advocate of breastfeeding and posted about it publicly in hopes of breaking the stigma surrounding the topic.
“One of my favorite things to do is spend that one on one time with my baby during feeding time,” she told fans while sharing a photo of the time with her son, George.
“Breastfeeding has been very natural and easy for me but I know it’s not something everyone has an easy time with. To all of the Mom’s out there do what makes you and your baby happy and sane! Don’t force something if it’s not working & remember you’re mental health is the most important!”
