Miranda Lambert’s love of dogs is well known to all of her fans, and now she revealing that her canine affection could’ve been a deal breaker with new husband Brendan McLoughlin.
In an interview with Taste of Country, she said, “When I first met him, I realized I looked a little bit like a crazy dog lady. Which is fine with me, because that’s what I am.”
“I was like, ‘Hey, if you don’t like dogs, that’s kind of a deal-breaker,” she said. “He actually loves them to death,” Lambert revealed of her nine dogs.
The couple lives on a small farm outside of Nashville, where Lambert owns several animals in addition to her dogs.
She has a dog charity foundation called MuttNation, which she talked to PopCulture.com about.
“When you finally get to a place in your career, where people are paying attention you have to decide what you wanna use your platform for,” the Texas native told PopCulture.com. “And I just knew right away it was gonna be dogs. I’ve grown up with dogs my whole life and strays and people just dumping them off. I grew up in the country so my mom and I started Mutt Nation. And it was just kind of a mom and pop operation and now we’re 10 years later, four million dollars later, and thousands of dogs adopted.”
“We’ve done so much but I also feel like we’re just getting started,”‘ she added. “You know I feel like there’s so much work ahead of us. But we’ve been able to help with natural disasters and help shelters renovate. We kind of have our hand in everything and that’s why we wanted to start it because we wanted control of where the money that we raise could go to.”
Lambert often uses her social media clout to encourage fans to help support shelters.
“Louise here reminding yall to love a shelter pet this holiday season, and to add volunteering at your local shelter to your 2020 to do list!” she wrote in a post around Christmas.
