Gal Gadot Recalls Being Vocal About Joss Whedon's Abusive Behavior

Wonder Woman’s sense of justice is strong. At least that’s what Gal Gadot is claiming in a recent interview with Elle. As part of the magazine’s women in Hollywood special. A lot has been made about the toxic environment on the set of Justice League. With Gal Gadot being singled out as one of the actors that Joss Whedon had it out for from the start. Many people on set claim that Whedon threatened to derail her career if she didn’t comply with his directives. Wonder Woman didn’t back down from the threat!

Whedon Didn’t Know What He Was Getting Himself Into

Gal Gadot recalled that the now-disgraced director “kind of threatened her career.” This wasn’t something that she was going to let slip through. According to her, she was quick to call the higher-ups at Warner Brothers to report what was going on, on the set of Justice League. She even claimed that the response from the folks at Warner Brothers was rather quick. Although they did ultimately allow him to finish the movie, that totally bombed, but ok. Gal recalls,

“Oh, I was shaking trees as soon as it happened. And I must say that the heads of Warner Brothers, they took care of it,”

Her Sense of Justice is Strong

The Israeli actress still has some questions about how things went down. Doubting for example that Whedon would have been as forthcoming with that kind of a threat to a male actor. Then again, Ray Fischer has been very vocal about the way that he was treated by the director on set. Although the substance of the threat was different Whedon seemed to be pretty entitled. He wasn’t getting away with it though, not on Wonder Woman’s watch! She went on to say,

“I just did what I felt like I had to do. And it was to tell people that it’s not OK. I would’ve done the same thing, I think, if I was a man. Would he tell me what he told me had I been a man? I don’t know. We’ll never know. But my sense of justice is very strong.”

Not Holding Any Grudges

With the way that the chips fell in the whole Joss Whedon situation it’s unlikely he and Gal Gadot will ever work together. In fact Whedon’s been having some trouble finding work after word about his abusive behavior got around. He left, “The Nevers” a sci-fi series that he had created over the scandal. Gal Gadot though mentioned that she wasn’t going to be holding on to any grudges over what happened in Justice League.

“I was shocked by the way that he spoke to me. But whatever, it’s done. Water under the bridge.”

Focusing On Her Pregnancy

You wouldn’t know from the pictures on the cover Elle magazine, but Gal Gadot is pregnant with baby number three. As of right now it seems that her pregnancy is the thing that she’s focusing on. That doesn’t mean though that fans won’t get to see her on screen this year. She finished shooting 2 movies before taking her well-deserved maternity leave. She’ll be featured along side Ryan Reynolds and The Rock in Netflix’s Red Notice. She also has another upcoming film titled “Death on the Nile”.
