Cardi B recently expressed that she’d like to go into politics! The Grammy Award-winning rapper says she has some ideas that could create positive changes in the current political climate. Hollywood has been abuzz since this announcement hit Twitter and a few celebs think Cardi B running for Senate is her best idea yet! Here are three celebs and politicians who’d vote for Cardi!
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is on board with this idea stating “it would be great!” He cited her concern for the direction the country is taking and the fact that she can identify with those living at and below the poverty line as the main reasons Cardi B makes for a great candidate for US Senate.
Wendy Williams addressed Cardi and her announcement during her Hot Topics segment on The Wendy Williams Show. Cardi mentioned that she just needed some time to go to school to prepare for a career in politics. Wendy’s reaction? “You know what, nobody else in Congress went to school why do you have to go?” asserted the talk show host. The audience erupted in applause and Wendy went on to clear up that there was “no shade” to the member of Congress for her comment.
From support to scorn, Twitter users have had mixed reviews to Cardi B’s political tweets. Users cited everything from her past including a stint as an exotic dancer to her admitting to criminal activity as reasons they can’t jump on board the Cardi B for Senate train. Other’s ironically jumped on the bandwagon using the same reasons as her opponents to validate the “Invasion of Privacy” rapper’s desire to run for a spot on Capitol Hill.
Whether or not Cardi B will be campaigning for a role in the government is still up for discussion. She is a controversial topic of conversation and has been since her introduction onto the Hollywood scene via Love and Hip Hop New York. Love her or hate her, Cardi B isn’t quite ready to make the leap into politics. The rapper and mother believes she needs to return to school and continue her education before she’d be ready to hit the campaign trail. In the last year she has become increasingly vocal about everything including US gun policies, the impeachment proceedings and case mounting against President Donald Trump, and the recent developments in the US’s relations with Iran and in the Middle East.
