The inductees to the 2020 class of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame were announced on Wednesday, and its an extremely diverse group of artists from across different genres.

The New York Times has the details on which acts got voted in:

The pop singer Whitney Houston, the ’90s industrial-alternative experimentalists Nine Inch Nails and the Brooklyn rapper the Notorious B.I.G. are among the latest inductees into the gradually broadening tent that is the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, according to an announcement on Wednesday.

Rounding out the class of 2020, which will be feted by the Rock Hall on May 2 in Cleveland, are the gothy synth-pop group Depeche Mode, which had hits throughout the ’80s and ’90s; the Doobie Brothers, who brought soul, country and jazz sounds into its top-selling ’70s soft rock; and T-Rex, the English glam-rock band fronted by Marc Bolan until his death in 1977.

People on social media were quick to share their opinions on the class after the announcement was made.

"So many deserving “rock” acts still waiting and Biggie and Whitney go in? Both are top shelf talent in their genres, and their inclusion in a music hall of fame a must, but the rock and roll hof? Change the name," one person wrote.

"R and B is one of the genres who influenced the creation of rock. And her impact on music as a whole is tremendous," another said.

"Are you actually kidding me? Pat Benatar Is 100% rock. Outside of Stevie Nicks, she set the stage for every other rock goddess to follow in her esteemed footsteps. I am gobsmacked at the lack of recognition," one unhappy fan commented.

"Everyone needs to boycott fan vote. It means nothing. How is it the fan voted group doesn’t get in and especially Pat Benatar and Judas Priest aren’t in but B.I.G. gets in????? Stupid!!!!" another noted.

The full list of 2020 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees included: Pat Benatar, Dave Matthews Band, Depeche Mode, The Doobie Brothers, Whitney Houston, Judas Priest, Kraftwerk, MC5, Motörhead, Nine Inch Nails, The Notorious B.I.G., Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, Todd Rundgren, Soundgarden, T. Rex, and Thin Lizzy.
