Kelly Ripa put her killer silhouette on show via a very snazzy outfit today. The “Live! With Kelly and Ryan” host opted full ’80s with a silver-colored and wet-effect mini dress – anyone digging the 49-year-old’s fashion sense now also has a full Instagram video dedicated to it.
If you aren’t familiar with Kelly’s setup, the show’s Instagram account frequently posts videos of Kelly documenting her look of the day from a backstage dressing room. The videos generally deliver plenty of humor – today was no exception.
You can see the video here, or just keep scrolling.
The style queen who usually comes in floral prints or sleek block colors upped the ante with her Wednesday look. Kelly had opted for a glossy, metallic mini dress in wet-effect fabrics, with the buttoned-up number proving pretty in-your-face for a morning ensemble.
That said, Kelly pulled the look off perfectly. The star wore black stockings and heels to offset the silver, also adding discreet jewelry. She wore her shoulder-length blonde hair down.
A video posted to “Live!”‘s Instagram showed Kelly and co-host Ryan Seacrest making their way onto the set, although the closet video was really where Kelly explained herself.
The closet video showed Kelly in front of a mirror and talking about her dress.
“It’s a little bit jiffy pop,” she said, before adding:
“But I like a jiffy pop moment.”
The dress was also revealed to be from popular designer Zadig & Voltaire.
A female in the video then commented that the dress was “kind of like” what happens with Kelly’s hair – “What does my hair look like?” Kelly then asked, looking a little panicked.
Kelly then admitted to being weirded out. She’d had a haircut last night, and it was one of those situations where everyone comes up to her and tells her that her hair looks longer.
“It’s so WEIRD,” Kelly said.
Kelly does seem to suit a mini dress. The star may be pint-sized, but she’s basically all muscle, with those famous pins proving popular over on the star’s social media.
Responses to today’s closet video also brought out the fans. Reviews were mixed.
“Not my fav, sorry,” one user wrote.
“Sorry. Do not like it. Looks like shiny plastic. Like shiny wrapping paper. Just awful!” another said.
Then again, others seemed to be digging the look.
“Super cute!!” one user wrote.
“Ohh, I like it,” another added.
While half of Hollywood gets slapped with Photoshop accusations, Kelly tends to keep it real. The star even mentioned her dislike of Instagram filters in an interview.
Speaking jointly with husband Mark Consuelos about advice the couple was giving their kids, mom Kelly made it clear.
“They’ve been to enough photo shoots and been on Instagram long enough to know how much can be faked and filtered and altered and so they aren’t fooled by what a picture tells you you should look like. That’s not real beauty,” she said.
So. That dress. Thoughts?
