Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott Attributes Their Growing Relationship To The Quarantine

The quarantine period of the coronavirus pandemic was a bummer for most people except lovers such as Hollywood sweethearts Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott.

While they were separated from the rest of the world, the couple's love for each other only grew stronger as they spent each day strengthening their bond.

At this year's Environmental Media Association Awards, Deschanel and her man were all shades of adorable as they graced the carpets with lovey-dovey poses.

The "New Girl" exclusively revealed to PEOPLE that her budding romance with Scott got stronger during last year's quarantine period.

The 41-year-old got to spend time with her man and introduced him to her two kids, Charlie Wolf and Elsie Otter, whom she shares with her estranged husband, Jacob Pechenik.

The feelings were mutual as the Canadian native also gushed about his affection for the "Yes Man" star.

The 43-year-old confessed that their time together made him realize how much he loves the mother-of-two. In his words,

"Look at it this way, I'm stuck with someone who I'm madly in love with who's an amazing chef."

The "Property Brothers" star also admitted that, unlike his previous relationships, this was the first time he observed that his feelings and efforts were being reciprocated.

The adorable couple began their romance in 2019 after a fateful encounter on the set of "Carpool Karaoke: The Series."

Before her relationship with the Canadian hunk began, Deschanel was ending her 4-year marriage to Pechenik. Last year, The Blast shared details about the former couple's divorce.

The public announcement of their separation came via a joint statement in September 2019, in which the pair cited that they were incompatible as "life partners."

To keep the legal affair out of the public's eye, the ex-lovers requested that their case be handed over to a Judge in December.

Interestingly, Pechenik's choice to finalize his separation from his estranged wife occurred during the period Deschanel went public with Scott.

The lovebirds proudly flaunted their love on social media with snaps from their time in Las Vegas and even a Halloween outing with the reality TV star's twin brother Drew Scott.

In June 2020, The Blast reported that a part of the "Bridge to Terabithia" actress's divorce settlement with her ex-husband involved adding 'Deschanel' to the children's legal names. 

This action was to aid the joint custody agreement and diffuse any legal conflict, especially if the Hollywood sensation wished to travel with her kids.

However, Charlie and Elsie will only use 'Deschanel' as a middle name while their last name will remain 'Pechenik.' The children also have the choice of using their mother's last name at school.

The actress's four-year romance with the film producer began in 2015 after hitting it off on Bill Murray's comedy "Rock The Kasbah."

Although the former couple has closed this chapter of their lives, they deserved accolades for settling their divorce amicably with their children's best interests at heart.
