Jennifer Lawrence Is Back! Watch Out For These Upcoming Movies

Jennifer Lawrence first got into the spotlight when she starred in "Winter's Bone" in 2010. However, she didn't hit star-level status until she played Katniss Everdeen, the determined archer fighting for her life in the "Hunger Games" series, an adaptation of the bestselling young adult novels by Suzanne Collins.

After the first "Hunger Games" film, Lawrence began her on-screen partnership with Bradley Cooper and director David O. Russell. She started with "Silver Linings Playbook" in 2012, followed it with "American Hustle" the next year and "Joy" in 2015.

"Silver Linings Playbook" earned Lawrence an Academy Award for her performance, making her the second-youngest Best Actress winner in history. She received a nomination for her other two collaborations with Russell as well. She has also won a BAFTA and three Golden Globes before the age of 30.

After the release of the spy thriller "Red Sparrow" in 2018, Lawrence told Entertainment Weekly that she would be focusing on political activism as a part of the organization Represent.Us.

However, now that she's back in the industry, many projects are coming up from her that is definitely worth adding to watchlists.

"Don't Look Up" is a satire for Netflix, written and directed by Adam McKay, known for directing "Vice" and "The Big Short."

It's reportedly about "two low-level scientists who, upon discovering that a meteor will strike the Earth in six months, go on a media tour to try to warn the world but find an unreceptive and unbelieving populace."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, there were reports that the film started shooting on November 23, 2020. Lawrence and co-star Leonardo DiCaprio will be playing the two scientists at the center of the story.

The cast is extensive; familiar faces like Timothée Chalamet, Meryl Streep, Tyler Perry, and Cate Blanchett. "Don't Look Up" will also reunite DiCaprio and Jonah Hill, his co-star in "The Wolf of Wall Street." The supporting cast is Melanie Lynskey, Himesh Patel, Ron Perlman, Ariana Grande, Kid Cudi, and Matthew Perry.

Though not supposedly as action-packed as "The Hunger Games" franchise was for Lawrence, she reportedly suffered an injury on set. The movie took a temporary break after Lawrence was said to have been hit with debris from a special effects explosion.

The upcoming biopic "Mob Girl" will tell the story of Arlyne Brickman, a woman who was a big part of the organized crime scene in 1970s New York. After growing up around and marrying into the mob of Lower East Side New York City, she became an FBI informant.

She served as a key witness in the case against the Colombo crime family, one of the five families that still hold influence in NYC. Lawrence will play Brickman in the movie, which is based on author Teresa Carpenter's biography of the same name.

The film is directed by Paolo Sorrentino, an Italian director with many fantastic movies on his resume, including the Academy Award-winning film "The Great Beauty" from 2013. He's jumped into more English-language projects of late, most notably as creator of "The Young Pope" and its successor, "The New Pope."

To date, and according to IMDb, the only other cast member announced for the project is a young actor named Lucas Royalty. He will be making his feature film debut. Although there's been no word on when production will begin on this film, Sorrentino currently has a film in post-production, "The Hand of God." It is expected to come out later this year.

Jennifer Lawrence is set to play Elizabeth Holmes in the biopic "Bad Blood." She's an entrepreneur who made her own start-up tech company in 2003 called Theranos and claimed that her technology could do dozens of lab tests with only a drop of blood.

Many praised her innovation and presence, and Forbes put her on their list of America's 50 Richest Self-Made Women.

However, everything came crashing down when Holmes was accused of fraud by John Carreyrou, a journalist for The Wall Street Journal who investigated Theranos for a series of articles.

At the time of writing this, "Bad Blood" has no release date set.

Lawrence teams up with acclaimed theater director Lila Neugebauer in her feature film debut. The script also comes from another first-timer, Elizabeth Sanders.

"Red, White and Water" is under the experienced hands of producers Scott Rudin, Eli Bush, and the A24 banner. Lawrence is also tapped as one of the film's producers.

Per IMDb, "Red, White and Water" follows a U.S. soldier who suffers a traumatic brain injury while fighting in Afghanistan and then struggles to readjust to life back home.

In the film, some of Lawrence's co-stars include Brian Tyree Henry, Samira Wiley, and Stephen McKinley Henderson.
