Back in late July, Jay Z and Beyoncé's New Orleans mansion ran into a very scary situation, as it could've potentially burned down. At the time, it caught on fire, as this property is located in the Garden District, of the city. This was a 1-alarm fire, and took over two hours, for the fire to be extinguished. It got to a point where 22 firefighters were needed, to get the job done.

At the time, no one was in the home, and no injuries were sustained nearby. The property was said to have been purchased in 2015, as the mailing address is for Beyoncé's management company, Parkwood Entertainment. The home was originally built way back in 1925, as a Presbyterian church, and then, transitioned into a a ballet school.

Police Went On To Say Incident Was 'Simple Arson'

TMZ later reported that regarding this fire at Bey and Jay'z New Orleans, property, it was classified as simple arson. At the time of police arriving at the scene, there was a call about a "suspicious person." Soon, it was stated that the house had been set on fire. No one had ended up being arrested, or put into police custody.

Jay Z And Beyoncé Are Listing Their New Orleans Home

Months after the New Orleans home caught in flames, Jay Z and Beyoncé are now deciding to sell it. According to TMZ, the property is being listed at $4,450,000. It contains seven bedroom and eight bathrooms, and is also able to host large events. The home also contains a main residence area, along with three apartments in it, which are each 1,000 square-feet. The home in total, is listed as being 13,292 square-feet. As far as proximity to local events in New Orleans, such as the Mardi Gras parade route, it is steps away. As of now though, it is still unclear how much damaged was caused, to the mansion, as a result of the fire.

Jay Z And Beyoncé Recently Helped Launch HBCU Scholarships

In addition to putting this beautiful New Orleans home on the market, Jay Z and Beyoncé have also been doing huge things, in local communities. Last month, the two got together with Tiffany & Co., to launch scholarships, for various HBCUs. (Historically Black Colleges) This is in partnership with Tiffany & Co., to kickstart the Love Scholarship program, with assistance from their BeyGOOD and the Shawn Carter Foundations. Tiffany & Co. went on to donate $2 million, in scholarship funding, for students who are studying arts and other creative fields. The HBCUs which are receiving these scholarships are Lincoln University, Norfolk State University, Bennett College, University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and Central State University.

"We would like to thank the Shawn Carter Foundation, BeyGOOD, The Carters and the Tiffany & Co. family for including Lincoln University in this amazing gift," said Dr. Brenda A. Allen, president of Lincoln University in a statement. "Lincoln has placed a high priority on supporting the arts and humanities on our campus. Providing financial support for students pursuing these majors enhances their ability to more fully engage their studies."
