Both Will and Jada have been very vocal about their relationship and the trails and tribulations that abound during a high profile marriage. Even Jada had a few reservations about getting hitched previously. In an interview with Parade Pinkett Smith revealed;

“I knew that I was not built for conventional marriage,” the Girls Trip star, 47, confessed. “Even the word ‘wife’: it’s a golden cage, swallow the key. Even before I was married, I was like, ‘That’ll kill me.’ And it damn near did!”

“Why wouldn’t you share what you’ve been through, when you see that other people are out there, trying to figure this crap out?” she said. And it's also evident that the two of them have a strong bond that only grows with time.

Will also knows what it takes to make a marriage work as well. He shared a story about helping Jada celebrate her 40th birthday with a party he though she'd love. And she absolutely hated it, causing friction that needed to be addressed. From Oprah Magazine;

They “broke up” and “got back together” within their marriage, with new rules. Now, the couple doesn’t define themselves as married—instead, their bond is something different. “It’s a life partnership in the sense that we’ve created a foundation together that we know is for this lifetime,” Jada said.

“We have devoted ourselves to each other in a spiritual, emotional sense,” Will said. “Whatever she needs, she can count on me for the rest of her life.”

Another thing Jada can count on is Will's transparency, as he recently revealed a time when he was jealous of her friendship with late iconic lyricist Tupac Shakur. The Shade Room reports Will spilled his guts during an interview on The Breakfast Club;

During the interview, Will Smith was asked if he had ever been jealous of the love Jada Pinkett Smith had for Tupac Shakur. Will admitted at one point he did and said, “That was in the early days. That was a big regret for me, too, because I could never open up to interact with Pac.”

Will continued, “They never had a sexual relationship, but now they had come into that age where that was a possibility, and Jada was with me. She just loved him. He was the image of perfection, but she was with the ‘Fresh Prince,’ so it was, like, we were in the room together a couple of times, I couldn’t speak to him. He wasn’t going to speak to me if I wasn’t going to speak to him.”

He later attributed his feelings to insecurity and admitted it was the thing that kept him from speaking to Tupac. Check out a snippet of the interview below.
