A few years ago, Harry Styles and Stevie Nicks formed an unlikely friendship that has blossomed into one of the music industry's sweetest pairings.

Since their meeting in 2015, Styles and Nicks have performed together and raved about one another in interviews — the Fleetwood Mac star even called him "the son I never had."

In a 2017 Rolling Stones interview, Styles reminisced about calming his nerves in preparation to meet Nicks for the first time. It was backstage at a Fleetwood Mac concert in London in 2015. It was also her birthday, so he brought her a birthday cake. "Piped her name onto it. She loved it," Styles said. "Glad she liked carrot cake."

Before that meeting, Styles had first come into Nick's orbit a year earlier when drummer Mick Fleetwood took his teen daughters to a One Direction concert. It turned out that the bulk of the fangirling was for Fleetwood.

"At that point, the girls are going, 'Dad, just don't embarrass us! No dad-dancing,'" he recalled to The Mirror.

After the show, Fleetwood's celebrity status allowed him and his daughters to meet Styles backstage, which caused the music legend to become "a superstar" in his daughters' eyes.

Fleetwood later invited Styles to attend his show at London's 02 Arena that May. It was the first time that Styles and Nicks met face to face. It also started a friendship that only grew closer over the years that followed.

"I actually gave him a ring at the Forum thing. It's very masculine and has a pink stone in it. I told him it was a pink diamond, but it really isn't. It would've cost $5 million. It was mine, and I really loved it, but I thought, 'This should be for Harry.' You can see it on his hands in the "Falling" video where he's playing the piano. If Harry and I were in a band together, we'd be trading all kinds of crazy stuff," she recalled.

Nicks Shared That Styles Is Her Type, Minus The Age Gap

In a new interview with the Los Angeles Times, Nicks shared what we all know; Styles is 100% her type, if only he weren't 46 years younger than her.

When she was asked if she would find "an older version of Styles" to be of interest romantically, she said with a laugh, "Well, that would be a good thing."

She also admitted she hadn't been in love for nearly two decades. As for re-entering the dating scene, the "Landslide" singer was adamant that she had no intention to hang out "in a bar with a bunch of my friends and wait for some weirdo guys to come over and buy us drinks."

Nicks was also insistent that, even if she were "30 or 40 or 50" years old, she "would never use a dating app." She also added, "I find that to be totally desperate. I watch all those crime shows. Are you setting yourself up with an ax murderer or something?" Falling in love again, she confessed, wasn't "out of the realm of possibility. It's just not very probable."

Rather than choose a fellow Mac member or a legendary rock icon to deliver her induction remarks, she picked Styles.

In his speech reported by Rolling Stone, the "Watermelon Sugar" singer celebrated her wisdom and serenity.

"She sees all the romance and the drama in the world, and she celebrates it," he told the audience. Addressing everyone who's ever connected with Nicks' music, Styles also said, "You're more than a fan. You are a friend. And the words say in so many ways: I understand you, and you are not alone. And that is true, Stevie."

Styles Inspires Nicks To Write New Songs

In 2020, Nicks posted a message to her fans and urged them to remain positive as the coronavirus spreads.

During that time, the singer stayed indoors as mandated by the US. She also mentioned how Styles inspired her to write new music as she listened to his album 'Fine Line' to get through the crisis.

She wrote, "Dear Everyone, I know you are doing everything you can to help the situation we are all in. I am staying in with my Goddaughters and my assistant Karen – and all our dogs – Lily, Luna and Mana – while trying to think of creative things to do. I am getting all my paintings and drawings out – listening to music, mostly Harry Styles' "Fine Line," and being inspired by him to write some new songs and poetry. Way to go H – it is your 'Rumours'."
