"Cameron wants to spend every second with the baby," the source told the outlet. "Their close friends are extremely loyal, so it's not strange that they were able to keep it quiet."

It was not publicly known that Diaz was pregnant, and they couple made the announcement on Friday.

"Happy New Year from the Maddens!" the couple wrote in a statement. "We are so happy, blessed and grateful to being this new decade by announcing the birth of our daughter, Raddix Madden. She has instantly captured our hearts and completed our family."

"While we are overjoyed to share this news, we also feel a strong instinct to protect our little one's privacy," the statement continued. "So we won't be posting pictures or sharing any more details, other than the fact that she is really really cute!! Some would even say RAD.

"From our family to all of yours, we're sending our love and best wishes for a Happy New Year and Happy New Decade. Sincerely, Cameron&Benji."

Diaz has taken a break from acting over the past few years since her and Madden married in 2015.

From PEOPLE:

“While she was always in the spotlight, she was never comfortable in that role. It was stressful, and over the years it took a toll on her. She needed a break,” a film source told PEOPLE this past August, while another insider said Diaz “loves married life and just being with Benji.”

Diaz talked to InStyle Magazine last year about her break from acting.

“I started [experiencing fame] when I was 22, so 25 years ago, that’s a long time,” she said. “I’ve given more than half of my life to the public. I feel it’s okay for me to take time for myself now to reorganize and choose how I want to come [back] into the world. I don’t miss performing.”
