While many assumed Selena Gomez was sitting at home crying into a carton of Ben and Jerry's Ice cream the day Justin Bieber married Hailey Baldwin, it seems their wedding was the least of her concerns.

The "Wolves" singer has been living her best life as of late, spending time with girlfriends, putting out new music and looking more confident than ever.

She recently spent New Year's Eve in Hawaii with her friends, ringing in 2020 along the shores of gorgeous Oahu.

Selena Gomez Is Looking Towards The Future

A source told E! News, "Selena is spending a week on the Hawaiian island of Oahu to ring in 2020. She is staying in a house with her group of close girlfriends, and they all are enjoying a relaxing vacation with beach time and hanging out together."

The source continued, "Selena seemed completely relaxed and happy. She had no makeup on and was very casual and comfortable with everyone. It was a mellow day and just a chance to be out on the water enjoying the perfect weather."

Clearly, she's starting the new year with all worries about her love life firmly in the past, and looking towards a future full of happiness and self-love.

She went through some tough years, most of them full of very public breakups with ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber. It appeared these breakups took a toll on the famous pop star, and her mental health, all while she was struggling with lupus.

Selena recounted the complicated relationship in her new song "Lose You To Love Me," which she sang in an emotional performance at the 2019 AMA's.

The lyrics talk of her feelings about the roller coaster they were on, and how it affected her.

She sings: "You promised the world and I fell for it/ I put you first and you adored it/ Set fires to my forest/ And you let it burn/ Sang off-key in my chorus/ 'Cause it wasn't yours/ I saw the signs and I ignored it Rose-colored glasses all distorted/ Set fire to my purpose/ And I let it burn."

Selena spoke about the song to People magazine, and her thought process as she wrote it.

She claimed, “This song was inspired by many things that have happened in my life since releasing my last album. I thought it was important to share the music, as I know many can relate to the fact that the road to self-discovery generally comes through the scars in one’s life.”

Will she be looking for a new relationship anytime soon? In October, a source told Hollywood Life, “Selena is open to finding love again but it’s not a huge focus for her, she’s not on the hunt. But she does have a wish list, she knows what she’s looking for."

Hopefully, Selena spends some time enjoying the single life and getting to know herself without always worrying about The Biebs, and it appears that's exactly what she's doing going into 2020.

Selena Talked About Body Confidence

In 2017, Selena had a kidney transplant after suffering from complications with lupus. After the surgery, she struggled with body confidence issues, and spoke about this in an interview with Billboard magazine.

She was asked about her feelings on her surgery scar and if she feels comfortable with it, responding, "I do. I didn't, but I do now. It was really hard in the beginning. I remember looking at myself in the mirror completely naked and thinking about all the things that I used to bitch about and just asking, “Why?”

The "Lose You To Love Me" singer seems to be finding her way as a single woman now, ready to start a new year with confidence and self-love.
