Well-known as a family that claps back, Kim Kardashian West is having none of the criticism over what some claim is a lack of effort to help put an end to the wildfire crisis currently ravishing the continent of Australia.

The fires have inspired many celebrities, such as Pink, Keith Urban, and Nicole Kidman to donate $500,000 to provide relief aid. Thor: Ragnarok star Chris Hemsworth pledged a million dollars to aid the country in crisis. Hemsworth and Kidman are both from Australia.

Beginning on December 20, 2019, wildfires have been raging across Australia for weeks. The devastation has caused the deaths of 25 people and around half a billion animals. Experts have sadly proclaimed this loss of life to be a major extinction risk for koalas, which have been filmed begging passersby for water along the roadways.

Unfortunately, despite already burning for several weeks, officials believe the fires will continue to burn for months to come. Some reports have recently pointed to people who may have been starting fires.

Touched by the news of the suffering Australian wildlife, Instagram influencer Kaylen Ward (AKA The Naked Philanthropist), offered to send a nude photo of herself to anyone who donated at least $10 to a specified list of organizations working to offer aid in Australia. The model's plan was a huge success, reportedly garnering $100,000 in a single day.

Unfortunately, Ward was faced with backlash and harassment. Many Twitter users began asking for nude photos without offering any kind of donations. Ward's Instagram account was shut down and the influencer's nude photos were leaked to the public.

The Backlash Begins

Twitter users were unhappy with Ward's treatment, viewing the model as a hero and applauding her for her efforts in the middle of such a devastating event. They believed the fallout as horribly unfair and unjustified. Criticism began pouring in against Kardashian West after Ward's account was shut down.

Even though Kardashian West has frequently been posting tweets and retweets about the Australian wildfires, some believed she was not actually affected by the tragedy and was merely posting rather than taking action.

Setting The Record Straight

Kardashian West was quick to set the record straight, insisting that not everything is the way it appears in the media. The reality TV star pointed out that her family will often make donations to different causes, but that they don't feel the need to publicize every time they do a good deed.

The mother of four called out her critics, quote retweeting one such accusation and stating that these assumptions really get her "heated." Sister Khloe Kardashian backed her up, clarifying her belief that good deeds should not be done for acclaim, hence the family's preference to keep these types of actions under wraps.

An Activist Past

While the Kardashians have not been publically active in the Australian wildfire efforts, Kim has famously been involved in politics in the past. The makeup mogul focused her efforts on fighting for the wrongfully imprisoned, working to free 17 inmates in only three short months. Her advocacy for Cyntoia Brown went viral when Kardashian West met with President Trump in the White House to argue for her release.

Kardashian West recently announced plans to go to law school to further this cause.
