The adorable and beautiful, Emmy Rossum, who achieved most of her fame from the hit show, Shameless, is preparing for a role in a new show. The series is titled Angelyne and has required the actress to take on ummm… quite the full-body transformation.
The transformation in question was only revealed through a post that Rossum shared on Twitter of her holding a polaroid picture between her fingers. The almost unrecognizable Rossum featured big, blonde hair and a red top that featured studded straps crisscrossing her chest.
On Twitter, Rossum simply captioned the photo with ‘The adventure begins’. This, of course, is in reference to the new series that she’ll be starring in called Angelyne, which will be featured on NBC’s streaming network, Peacock.
The show will follow the character Angelyne who made herself famous on the Los Angeles scene by making appearances on billboards and in cameos on television and in films. The show is being produced by Rossum, who started the production company, Composition 8. Her husband and creator of Mr. Robot, Sam Esmail, will also be helping produce the show.
The true story of Angelyne is an interesting one, to say the least. It begins with the starlet being born in Poland during the time of World War II.
The family is sent to a concentration camp, where ultimately, they escape and make it to the United States. They are some of the lucky few, with only 500 surviving out of the 13,000 from the town she was from.
The family of Holocaust survivors decides to settle in the Fairfax district of L.A. and begin a new life. Not long after in 1965, Angelyne’s mother dies. Her father then marries another survivor and the family moves to Panorama City where Angelyne attends high school.
Soon after, she reinvents herself as a blonde bombshell and becomes famous from simply being famous as a constant presence on billboards and in cameos on television and in film. She was known for driving around a pink corvette throughout the Los Angeles area.
This is the first major project that Rossum has undertaken since she decided to leave Shameless. While on the show, Rossum was able to bring it to unprecedented levels of popularity as the character Fiona Gallagher, the mother-like, older sibling of the family.
From her excellent work on Shameless, she has been nominated for countless awards including Best Actress in a Drama Series and Best Television Actress. Although she hasn’t won any of the awards in which she was nominated, the show continues to receive high praise.
Her husband, Sam Esmail, is also working on several other projects that will be under production soon including Battlestar Galactica, which already has a done deal with Universal Content Productions; a reboot of Saved by the Bell, having already cast Josie Tatah for the lead role; a Punky Brewster remake; and the drama Brave New World, based on the novel by Aldous Huxley.
As for Angelyne, it’s set to begin production this month and will be ready for consumption come April of 2020.
