Brad Pitt’s personal life, specifically who he is or isn’t dating, has been a focus of fans and celebrity media for decades now. It’s a fact that clearly isn’t lost on Pitt, who joined his Once Upon A Time In Hollywood co-star Leonardo DiCaprio on Marc Maron’s “WTF” podcast.
Maron asked both stars when they first realized that they had officially made it. DiCaprio said that after he made “a film called Titanic,” he noticed that several black SUVs started following him around. He then said that that no longer happens to him, which surprised Pitt. “It doesn’t?!” he asked.
“I’m a little disgruntled with you,” Pitt said to DiCaprio. “I’m just like, trash mag fodder. I don’t know… because of my disaster of a personal life, probably.”
“You have a very exciting personal life,” DiCaprio replied back. “Like Lil Kim said, ‘The paparazzi’s gonna get you one way or another.’ It’s been my motto.”
Pitt then said that he has some secret hideouts he uses to evade the paparazzi, but he’s not about to reveal what they are. “I’ve got some good getaways that I will not reveal here because they’re still in play,” he said.
Pitt joked about the press’ obsession with his dating life during his acceptance speech at Sunday’s Golden Globes after winning the award for best supporting actor in a drama motion picture.
“I wanted to bring my mom, but I couldn’t, because anyone I stand next to, they say I’m dating,” he joked on stage.
As PopCulture.com notes, three of Pitt’s exes were at the ceremony:
Christina Applegate, who he dated in the ’80s, Gwyneth Paltrow, who he was engaged to in the ’90s and Jennifer Aniston, who he was married to from 2000-2005.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight before the Globes, Pitt acknowledged the interest over seeing him reunited with Aniston at the ceremony.
“I’ll run into Jen, she’s a good friend. Yeah,” he said. “The second most important reunion of her year? I understand,” he joked. “That was a play on Friends. They were saying that.”
