Selena Gomez has been stung by a jellyfish-like creature – and it's been caught on camera.

The "Fetish" singer whose new album is set to drop any day now was filmed over New Year's Day – Selena rung in the New Year in Hawaii, although it doesn't look like she had the best start to 2020.

Selena actually had to be carried "piggy-back style," per TMZ, as she was stung by a Portuguese man 'o war. The poisonous sea creature that is largely referred to as a jellyfish actually isn't one – but with tentacles and a jellyfish-like appearance, mankind tends to treat it like one.

The video showed Selena enjoying the perks of her Honolulu, Hawaii location before getting attacked by the sea creature.

Selena was seen limping following the sting, also being carried piggy-back style by a male dressed in dark clothing. Selena herself was shielded from the sea breeze, seen in a long and cream-colored robe. The singer's face wasn't captured, but she was filmed from the back. Footage also showed Selena seated at the shore and being comforted by a supportive female friend.

Selena did take to social media to mark the start of 2020, posting a stunning set of photos of herself enjoying an ocean view. The PUMA spokesperson's super-toned legs were on show, with Selena choosing to share the snaps as the sun set.

"Hi New Year. Let’s make this one better than the rest," she wrote to accompany her images.

Selena may no longer be the most-followed woman on Instagram – Ariana Grande holds that crown – but a post from the 27-year-old will definitely get noticed.

The update was liked by celebs including Jennifer Aniston, Vanessa Hudgens, and Gabrielle Union.

Selena's new Rare album will be dropping on January 10. The star announced the upcoming release at the end of 2019.

"This album is my diary from the past few years and I can't wait for you to hear it," she said.

Since the New Year, Selena has taken to Instagram with promotional content for the new album, but she hasn't given much away. The brunette beauty has, however, made headlines for relaxing in an itty-bitty green bikini aboard a yacht. That outing seemed to go smoothly.

Selena's relationship with "Sorry" singer Justin Bieber likely feels like a zillion years ago for her fans. Selena seemed to take some time for herself following the split, although Bieber famously moved on with the model he eventually married – Justin and wife Hailey Baldwin are now inseparable.

Vanity Fair even noted some of Gomez's tracks being about "dodging a bullet," with Selena even making headlines as her relationship with Bieber came with mentions of "emotional abuse."

Selena likely had access to a top medical team following her sting, but still – nobody needs that.
