Vanna White has had fans fawning for the last several weeks after she took over as the host of “Wheel of Fortune” for the first time, earning high praise from viewers. Now, she has people gushing again with a photo she shared on Instagram of her family enjoying a Hawaiian vacation for the new year.
“Happy New Year from our family to yours! #2020,” she captioned a photo with her husband and two kids.
“Happpppy new year! I love the show. You did an amazing job!” one fan wrote.
“Happy New Year to you and your family! Much Aloha to you, too!” another said.
“Your children have your lovely smile !!!!! Lucky them,” someone else commented.
“Happy new year to you too Vanna. My 2020 resolution is to audition for Wheel of Fortune so I can see you and Pat!” a fourth fan said.
White was forced to take over hosting duties after Pat Sajak underwent emergency surgery. She talked to Us Weekly about her temporary role at the time.
“It was good,” she told the outlet. “It was different. It was fun. But I’m glad he’s back. … I learned that I was very uncomfortable doing it and agreeing to do it because it was just so out of my comfort zone, but I learned that I could step up to the plate if I had to.”
“I have never even thought of hosting the show,” she said. “Never crossed my mind. But obviously, I stepped in, took one for the team to fill in for him because I’m very familiar with the show after all these years. And our executive producer thought I was the perfect person to do that in his absence.”
White said that she did love being able to talk with the contestants, something she doesn’t do when she’s turning the letters.
“I was able to mingle with the contestants, which I never get to do when I’m touching letters,” White shared. “So it was a nice little camaraderie between the contestants and myself. It’s like you kind of become close to them in a sweet way. You’re pulling for each and every one of them, and they’re nice, and they’re nervous, and they’re excited, and they’re happy. So it was kind of a little touching moment with me and the contestants.”
