Selena Gomez has joined the slew of celebs ringing in 2020 in a bikini. The 27-year-old singer picked Hawaii as her New Year’s destination, with The Daily Mail‘s paparazzi making sure they were there to photograph the “Fetish” singer.
Photos obtained by the British newspaper showed Selena in the way she is best known. That’s zero makeup, zero glam squad, and one relaxed and healthy-looking girl enjoying the sun without any fuss. Well, except for the luxury-looking yacht that Selena was on.
Selena was snapped relaxing aboard the water vessel and wearing a stylish and olive green bikini that flattered her fit and curvy frame just perfectly.
The singer’s two-piece wasn’t the most revealing, but the wide-strapped number seemed perfect for showcasing Selena’s frame. While the singer has looked more slender in the past, fans responding to The Daily Mail’s images seemed in overwhelming agreement – Selena finally looks healthy.
It’s worth noting the major health issues that Gomez has faced over the years. With the auto-immune disease Lupus, Selena underwent a full kidney transplant back in 2017.
A-Listers at Selena’s level don’t get left alone. Either they’re too fat or they’re too thin. Just yesterday, supermodel Bella Hadid was slammed beyond belief for appearing too thin as she posed for Kourtney Kardashian’s Poosh lifestyle brand.
Selena revealed her insecurities to Elle in 2018.
“I get really insecure sometimes, I go through weird ups and downs, but in general I just want people to wear what they feel comfortable in,” she told the magazine.
“All my friends who are a part of this shoot, and all have different body types, and it’s just beautiful to see them wear things that just make them feel good,” she added.
Selena is getting the final days of R&R in before her new album drops. Rare is set to be released next week.
Gomez opened up about the comeback tracks, saying that “more than anything I think I feel a sense of relief.”
“It’s been four years since I’ve been working on this album. It’s actually perfect timing because I was going to release it two years ago and none of the words that I’m speaking would have existed. So taking a moment to actually feel the feelings that I’ve gone through it’s just, I don’t know, I’m just so grateful that it’s out,” she added.
It isn’t a competition, but facts are facts. Selena took a giant step back from social media in 2018, returning with full force in 2019. The singer was the most-followed woman on Instagram, although last year saw “thank u, next” singer Ariana Grande overtake her.
Selena does remain one of the most-followed women on the platform, though. Her following currently sits at 164 million.
Selena is followed by celebs including Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Halle Berry, Nicki Minaj, and Gwen Stefani (plus Jennifer Aniston, Carrie Underwood, and Gabrielle Union).
