Kim Kardashian and Kanye West made headlines for the Christmas holiday by gifting their oldest child, North West, a one of a kind present that could only be expected to be given by the Kardashian-West family.
The gift in question was a jacket that the late Michael Jackson owned and one that he personally wore to Elizabeth Taylor’s 65th birthday party back in 1997, as well as, the screening of the movie, ‘Ghosts’. It was made of velvet and featured a sparkling design on the front and a burgundy stripe going down one of the sleeves.
But the real quick is, how much did the couple pay for the prized King of Pop jacket? And how did they obtain it, in the first place?
Kardashian-West posted on her Instagram story on December 24th, sharing their recent purchase and the details regarding how they obtained the jacket and the alterations they made so that North could wear it.
“For Christmas, Kanye and I gave North this jacket. North is a really big Michael Jackson fan,” she shared. “And we knew she would love this, so we won this on an auction for Northie for Christmas and we had it like tacked up so she can wear it.”
Kardashian-West also commented, saying that they had alterations done so that North could grow into it and have it for life. “It can grow with her and she can have this for her whole life,” she explained. North, of course, was ‘grateful and so excited’.

As if the idea of wearing, let alone owning, a Michael Jackson jacket wasn’t enough, the price tag will make you sick. It’s being reported by E! News that the couple purchased the jacket for $65,625, where they bidded on the item in an auction.
The MJ jacket wasn’t the only item that they gifted her, though. To complete the look, Kardashian and West also bought the hat Michael Jackson wore in the music video, ‘Smooth Criminal’, where he dressed up as a 1930s gangster. It’s believed that the price tag for the hat rivaled that of the jacket they also purchased. And, it even still has Jackson’s makeup on it!
The news of these purchases has resulted in severe backlash and a little bit of an associated hoax. Most of the backlash came from the fact that Jackson was a suspected pedophile, being the subject of child sexual abuse allegations before his untimely death.
And of course, the price tag also caused some ill wills amongst those on social media, although, it’s to be assumed that anything the Kardashian-West family will be over the top and extravagant. However, the bombardment of social media attacks from the jacket and hat would not surpass what was received after hearing of the third gift from North’s parents.
Poor JFK…his death shirt doesn't even get top billing over MJ's hat.

Soon after news of the jacket and hat being gifted to North, a report surfaced claiming that she had also received a highly controversial third present: the bloodied shift that was worn by John F. Kennedy the day that he was assassinated in Dallas, Texas.
This matter was soon debunked, though, as Kim Kardashian-West took to social media to condemn what appeared to be a hoax, which was picked up by a reporting service.
“WOW this is obviously fake! @Refinery29 I did not get JFK’s shirt. That is a sick joke that someone tweeted as a fake ig story that I never posted,” Kardashian West posted, along with the fake story being propagated throughout the internet.
We’re glad that North didn’t get the JFK shirt, but you still have to be in awe that she received those prized items that Michael Jackson personally wore, in addition to, the astronomical price tag on both gifts.
