Sam Asghari educated his fans via Instagram stories about cropping dogs' ears, as seen on People.
The 27-year-old personal trainer shared some insightful videos on his Instagram stories on Wednesday about his and Britney Spears' decision not to crop their Doberman puppy, Porsha's ears.
Says The Practice Is Just A 'Fashion Statement'
"First of all, we love her floppy ears," Asghari said. "Two, she's a lover not a fighter. She's a protector. And three, it turns out that it's actually pretty cruel to do that to Dobermans or any dog. It's actually a fashion statement. It's something that people do for cosmetic reasons, and you know, all the other excuses that are out there."
The Can You Keep a Secret? actor added that their furry friend's tail had already been docked when they got her, sharing that they would have not chosen to have that procedure done as well on their puppy had it been their decision.
He Says It's 'Selfish'

The practice of having a puppy's ears "actually affects the puppy psychologically and creates that trauma because puppies are so young, and they're developing," Asghari continued. He admitted that he does like the look of the pointed ears, but cropping a dog's ears "is literally being selfish."
"I highly recommend you educate yourself on these things," he added.
Asghari also shared to his followers that prior to having Porsha, he was unaware of the effects of cropping a dog's ears, saying, "I thought these dogs come up with their ears like that."
PETA Educated Him

PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) acknowledged Asghari's statement about the cruelty behind cropping a puppy's ears. The nonprofit organization posted a collage featuring screenshots of the actor's stories.
"Last night actor @samasghari took to his IG story to explain why he and fiancé @britneyspears will NOT be cropping their dog, Porsha’s, ears," PETA captioned the post. "A big thank you to Sam for educating his followers on this important topic."

Asghari shared last week that he surprised his fiancé with a puppy. He posted a video of himself holding and caressing their "new addition to the family."
In the clip, the fitness enthusiast said that the puppy is meant to "unconditionally love [Spears]" and going to be "trained to protect [Spears] from any motherf---er that comes around with bad intentions."
The next slide showed a sweet pic of Porsha sitting and staring at the camera, as well as a picture of Asghari holding the pup's little paw.
"Surprised my fiancé with our newest member to the Family ❤️ Porsha," Asghari wrote in the caption, along with two hashtags that said "doberman" and "homesecurity."
