The new year got off to a very sad start when it was reported that Bobbi Kristina Brown‘s ex-fiance Nick Gordon died from an alleged overdose. Gordon, who was only thirty years old, had been encountering many legal issues in the years following Brown’s passing, and it seemed very likely that it was all tied to his reeling grief from Brown’s passing. Now social media is reacting to his death and offering their condolences because this story is truly tragic.
As many know Brown was the daughter of famed singer Whitney Houston, who died in 2012 after a suspected drug overdose. Brown also passed away from an apparent overdose in 2015. People broke the story of Gordon’s passing after his brother Jack Walker Jr. released a statement on New Year’s Day.
“We are devastated by the loss of my beautiful brother,” Walker Jr. tells PEOPLE in a statement. “He leaves a void in the hearts of my family and his friends. Nick’s battle in life was not an easy one. I will be forever grateful that my God afforded a small moment at the very end of Nick’s life, and I was able to hold his hand as he journeyed on.”
Gordon’s lawyer Joe S. Habachy offered very minimal details surrounding Gordon’s death, though he did reveal that his heart was heavy.
“Despite all of the incredible challenges Nick faced over the last few years I can honestly say that he worked hard to hold his head up and stay sober and that he genuinely wanted a happy healthy life with his family more than anything else,” Habachy continues. “My heart goes out to the family and friends Nick leaves behind and to any other families dealing with the losses and heartache caused by drugs.”
The outpouring of comments following Nick Gordon’s death continued all over social media with many shocked by the sad news, according to Pop Culture. They’ve even began voicing their opinions on one of Gordon’s picture’s from his Instagram page, a photo featuring Gordon, Brown and Brown’s mother, the iconic singer Whitney Houston.
“All drug overdoses. This is beyond sad,” one fan commented on the throwback photo. “RIP all of you,” another message read.
Another user typed “So many damn shames dont know where they start and end, be at peace you three“
More comments poured in on the post with one follower writing “People will have their opinions. No one truly knows if you had anything to do with Krissy’s death but I pray you did not and be reunited with the people who truly loved you.” But not everyone offered such endearing sentiments since Gordon had long been speculated of having something to do with Brown’s murder. One user wrote, “This news has made a lot of people extremely happy, You don’t get to murder and rob a girl and get away with it Rest in Hell Nick“. It’s a tragic ending to one of the saddest stories of the past decade. Condolences to Gordon’s family and loved ones.
