Serena Williams has kicked off 2020 with a reminder that her rock-hard body hasn’t gone anywhere. The tennis superstar and entrepreneur took to Instagram on January 1 with a boss photo showing off her killer physique.
Of course, Serena was where she belongs – on the court. The 38-year-old was posing shot full length and wearing a tiny and purple-colored mini skirt paired with a muscle-flaunting white tank. To be fair, muscle kind of sums this star up, with the snap also showing Serena’s sculpted legs and toned shoulders.
A caption from Serena mentioned the New Year, plus Amazon – yup, Serena likely got paid big bucks for her pic.
“New year, an even better me (and you!). Excited to team up with @Amazon to share everything I’m “adding to cart” in 2020. Link in my story or head to www.amazon.com/serenawilliams #FoundItOnAmazon #Ad,” she wrote.
The post may have been a paid one, but it was smart. After all, anyone following Serena’s Instagram is bound to be a giant fan. Anyone not following is still likely a little curious about what this sports face fills her Amazon cart with.
Kinda hard to miss. Fan comments poured in from the moment Serena’s post went live – likes did the same. Over 150,000 were clocked within four hours of Serena’s update going live.
“Looking fantastic,” one fan rwote.
“Happy new year dear, A year of breaking records and setting new records….,” another added.
“Nice photo of you!! Have a wonderful 2020!” was another comment.
Some fans were wittier than others.
“Hopefully you can cart that Aussie Open title,” one user wrote. Sister Venus Williams left a like.
One thing that isn’t rocket science – how Serena achieves that body. The star is on the court for hours at a time, although what’s less-known is how Serena nourishes herself.
It turns out, this mother is an amazing cook.
“For years, I was always making gumbo for everyone. My other go-to dishes are something I call a ‘seven-bean delight,’ which really only has five beans, but don’t tell. Everyone loves my roasted chicken with garlic. For a minute, it was my turkey tacos. Now it’s vegan sushi. I just love to cook!” she said back in 2013.
Celebs like Kourtney Kardashian might go low-carb (the 40-year-old is trying out the keto diet for the second time), but Serena knows that energy doesn’t come out of thin air.
Despite admitting that she usually can’t eat before a match, the star did mention foods when speaking to Glamour.
“And I haven’t been able to figure out why — it must be nerves!” But I did have some turkey sausage and a baked potato before this last match. I try to do a combo of protein and carbs,” she said.
2020 seems to have kicked off well for Serena. Muscles, money, and let’s face it, probably more people subscribing to that Instagram account.
