Speaking at a recent Sunday Service, 42-year-old Kanye backed T.I., a.k.a. Clifford Joseph Harris Jr., but he didn’t hold back on going extra with his vocab. The rapper and Yeezy founder didn’t seem to think that Ti.I warrants the backlash he’s faced since speaking on the Ladies Like Us podcast earlier this year.
Kanye’s words might not entirely make sense to everyone hearing them, but that’s Kanye West for you.
“I ain’t tellin nobody what to do, I’m expressing what I’ve been through. ‘Cause you know people love to take a soundbite and say, ‘This was not exactly devil-approved by the internet.’ They tryna play T.I., but he’s talking about something that’s God-approved,” he said.
Meanwhile, other celebrities have slammed T.I.’s actions, with “Top Chef” host Padma Lakshmi doing it on Twitter.
“The double standard of the patriarchy is truly insane. Young women are fully capable of making their own informed decisions about their bodies and their sexuality,” Padma wrote.
T.I.’s podcast appearance hasn’t been forgotten. The celeb dad appeared comfortable with his decision to keep tabs on his teen daughter’s virginity.
“Deylah’s 18, just graduated high school now and she’s attending her first year of college, figuring it out for herself. And yes, not only have we had the conversation, we have yearly trips to the gynecologist to check her hymen.”
“So it’s this one time we go, I think this might have been after her 16th birthday. This is what we do… Usually, like the day after the [birthday] party, she’s enjoying her gifts. I put a sticky note on the door: ‘Gyno. Tomorrow. 9:30.'”
You don’t need a medical degree to know that a hymen can be broken through activity outside of sexual intercourse. T.I’s doctors informed him of this, but the rapper didn’t seem in the mood to listen.
“So then [the doctor says], ‘I just want you to know there are other ways besides sex that the hymen can be broken. Like bike riding, athletics, horseback riding and just other forms of athletic physical activity. So I said, ‘Look doc, she don’t ride no horses, she don’t ride no bikes, she don’t play no sports. Just check the hymen, please. And give me back my results expeditiously,” he said.
The social media storm generated by T.I.’s actions still hasn’t died down. Iggy Azalea has deleted the tweet slamming the rapper, but her words threw him all kinds of shade.
“Really I wish the women who interviewed him would have said something to him. He has serious control issues with women in all aspects of his life,” the “Work” rapper tweeted.
Kanye himself is a father to two daughters. Together with wife Kim Kardashian, he’s a dad to 6-year-old North West and 1-year-old Chicago.
