The beginning of a new year is always filled with so much promise and we all go into it naively thinking there won’t be any major scandals or drama in the celebrity world.
That usually lasts until January 2, and then someone cheats, someone posts a racist tweet, and someone else is involved in a messy divorce.
The year 2019 was filled with a lot of celebrities living their best lives, and it was also filled with many who should go into hiding right away.
Despite the many controversies surrounding the British Royal Family this year, especially with Prince Andrew and The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince William and Kate Middleton have proved to have something of a rebirth this year.
They haven’t put a toe wrong, have handled the media with grace, and have become incredibly confident in their roles this year.
Rebecca English, in an article for the Daily Mail even said the the couple have had an “annus mirabilis” this year. She wrote,”Their determination to ignore the naysayers and follow the Queen’s example by focusing on what matters, namely their family and charity work, has paid dividends. As a result we see a new Brand Cambridge: solid, relatable, reliable. And in these times of political upheaval, royal advisers feel strongly that it is what the country needs.”
It was the hand-hold seen round the world. Justin Timberlake was spotted holding hands with his Palmer co-star Alisha Wainwright while drunk on a balcony in New Orleans.
The photos went all over the place the next day, and Justin was forced to make a public apology to his wife on Instagram when the story “just wouldn’t die.”
Though the couple has stayed together, it appears Justin is not fully out of the doghouse just yet.
A source recently told Us Weekly that the couple is “focused on mending any issues.” However, they claimed Jessica is still “very hurt and upset with Justin. She hasn’t fully forgiven him and isn’t letting him off easy.”
Taylor Swift seems to be in a new feud every week, however this year it seems her fight with Scooter Braun and Big Machine Records could completely change the music industry.
In June, Scooter spent $300 million dollars on a deal with Big Machine which gave him full ownership of Taylor’s albums before her most recent, Lover.
However, despite the controversy, Taylor has proved she will not be silenced and has not allowed any of this to bring her down. She recently won six American Music Awards, including Artist of the Decade, and performed a medley of some of her most famous hits at the show.
Possibly the biggest loser of the decade, Prince Andrew was involved in one of the biggest royal scandals ever (and that’s saying a lot.)
After it was revealed the royal had a friendship with pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, he was accused of sleeping with one of Epstein’s sex slaves, Virginia Roberts (Giuffre) when she was just seventeen years old.
Thinking he could defend himself, Andrew sat down for an interview with BBC’s Newsnight, and Emily Maitlis didn’t hold back.
It was a complete car crash, and the Prince came off as arrogant, showing no empathy, and was even mocked for his story about taking his daughter to Pizza Express.
What will 2020 bring in the world of celebrity news? We’re sitting on the edge of our seats, just waiting to see what will happen.
