Kim Kardashian and Kanye West reportedly shut down 'SNL' from using an old tweet from the rapper that appeared to call his mother-in-law, Kris Jenner, a white supremacist.
In the days leading up to last week's 'Saturday Night Live' performance, the 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians' star apparently had to push back on producers who were trying to use some of her ex-husband's past aggressive tweets.
According to one report, it was Kanye who pushed his estranged wife "not to joke about an old tweet calling Kris Jenner a white supremacist." If you recall, West tweeted last summer when he was reportedly going through a bipolar episode, "White supremacy at its highest no cap." The tweet was beneath a screenshot from July 28, 2020, of an unanswered text message he sent to Kris Jenner.

"This Ye. You ready to talk now. Or are you still avoiding my calls," the message reads. Kanye followed it up with another text message, saying, "This Ye. You wanna talk. Or go to war?"
Of course, 'SNL' writers wanted to use famous back and forth during a segment called 'People's Kourt' -- a spoof on 'People's Court' where Kim played her sister Kourtney as a judge. "Originally, the 'People's Kourt' sketch had more aggressive tweets Kanye had posted," a source told The Sun.
They continued, "The writers wanted to include some from last summer, like calling Kim and Kris white supremacists, but Kim shut that down. Kris and Kanye agreed."
'KUWTK' Star Pokes Fun At Herself During Opening Monologue
In the end, Kim did poke fun at her family and famous ex-husband during her opening monologue. "I married the best rapper of all time. Not to mention the richest black person in America. We also have four amazing kids, which is why when I divorced him, it came down to just one thing...his personality," she joked.
Kardashian also mocked Kanye's run for President of the United States, saying, "I’m not running for president...we can’t have THREE failed politicians in one family." Obviously, referencing Caitlyn Jenner's bid to run for governor of California.
Regardless of the jokes being removed from the show, 'SNL' enjoyed a boost in the ratings for this week's episode. The show collected 3.8 million viewers -- which is up 300,000 from the week before -- in which Owen Wilson was the host.
Kanye West And Kim Kardashian Getting Back Together?!
As we reported, Kim and Kanye appeared to be putting aside their differences during the taping and episode of 'Saturday Night Live' after they were spotted making eye contact and waving at each other during the show. Also, the famous ex-couple was spotted out in New York the days before the show. Of course, the situation has sparked rumors of a reconciliation, considering the duo has stalled out on their divorce proceedings in Los Angeles Court.
At this point, the famous couple hasn't addressed the rumors of possibly getting back together -- but, protecting each other on one of entertainment's biggest stages is a good start. Plus, they are currently co-parenting their four children which is the most important thing.
