Jameela Jamil Claps Back At Trolls Who Mock Her Credit On James Blake's Album

Jameela Jamil is letting fans know she deserves to be credited for her work regardless of where it appears, even if it's on her boyfriend's album.

Yesterday, the "Good Place" actress took to her social media to address the criticism she received after being credited as a producer on her boyfriend James Blake's album "Friends That Break Your Heart." First, she clapped back at the haters, writing:

A lot of mostly women insisting I couldn’t possibly have actually worked on my boyfriend’s music, and that he must have just credited me to be nice… I was a DJ for 8 years, and studied music for 6 years before that.

She shamed them for being part of the reason why women don't go into producing. Then, tackling the issue further, Jamil revealed that Blake forced her to take credit on the album because she was "so preemptively sick of the internet."

The English actress recalled that something similar happened with Blake's last album even though she worked really hard on it. Jamil pointed out that she noticed that the trolls only discredit her input when they like the song.

She stressed that it was vital for her to take credit for the album because women in the music industry need to "visibly exist in the space of music production." Jamil then urged women all over to take credit for their work in whatever field they are.

The 35-year-old concluded her rant, advocating for representation and encouraging her fans to listen to Blake's album because "it's a stunning and important record" and "he's a total freak of nature."

The "She-Hulk" actress and the singer began dating as far back as 2015 after first linking up in December 2014. Things moved pretty fast between the duo as they moved in together. It was supposed to be a temporary arrangement, but it ended up becoming something permanent.

Although the lovebirds don't make frequent social media appearances like numerous celebrity couples, they never fail to celebrate important milestones like birthdays and anniversaries.

For Blake's 2019 album "Assume Form," which won a Grammy, the English singer credited Jamil for being his muse. He has also thanked her for making him a better man because there was no room for pretense with her.

Although the pair are in a committed relationship, Jamil identifies as pansexual as she is attracted to both sexes. She came out in February 2020 and seems to have Blake's support.
