Netflix’s Dear White People showrunner is facing backlash after attempting to bash comedian Dave Chappelle’s final Netflix stand-up special The Closer.
The content of the special has been making headlines since it premiered on Ocr. 5. The controversial comedian covers topics that involve trans rights and the drama that took place between rapper Da Baby and the LGBTQ2 community.
‘After The Chappelle Special, I Can’t Do This Anymore’

The showrunner, Jaclyn Moore took to social media to blast Chappelle and Netflix, in addition to quitting her position with the show and any affiliation with the streaming service. “I love so many of the people I’ve worked with at Netflix. Brilliant people and executives who have been collaborative and fought for important art….” She begins.

“I’ve been thrown against walls because, “I’m not a ‘real’ woman.” I’ve had beer bottles thrown at me. So, @netflix, I’m done.” The reveal of an attack comes as shock to many who were unaware that people were treating her this way. Unfortunately, instead of ending it there, she decided to give an example of one of her issues with Netflix.
“After the Chappelle special, I can’t do this anymore. I won’t work for @netflix again as long as they keep promoting and profiting from dangerous transphobic content.”

Confused Is An Understatement
Fans of the show were shocked at Moore’s statement but not because they agree with the trans rights activist’s thoughts on Chappelle’s last Netflix special, but because she is white.
“Finding out Dear White People #dearwhitepeople, a show about black people is ran by a very white @JaclynPMoore, who’s been complaining and trying to cancel a black man is a real Scooby Doo moment. #DaveChappelle,” tweeted out a shook fan alongside a comical Scooby-Doo, face off unveiling meme.
Another fan tweeted out that must have been the reason why they just couldn’t get into that show. An eagle-eyed fan pointed out, “Look at this person’s tattoo. We’re letting these people redefine what it means to be a woman and a lesbian? And we’re letting them run a show called #DearWhitePeople?” a photo reveals that Moore, who is transgendered is sporting a tattoo on their arm of a naked white trans woman with their legs open to reveal genitalia.

Who Is Jaclyn Moore?
The showrunner joined the Netflix show in 2018 and shared after the recent backlash that she was handpicked by creator Justin Simien. This, however, didn’t stop followers from trashing her for exerting her “male power as a trans white woman”.
Moore also pointed out that she shared her trans journey in a documentary by Netflix but has since tweeted that she prefers her followers to watch the mirror link she posted instead of the one by Netflix. Further enforcing her attempt to distance herself from the streaming service.
Fans Still Don’t Care
After the backlash, Moore hopped on the socials to defend her position but truth be told, the masses were uninterested in hearing anymore. “It's wild how a few people are yelling at me that the special wasn't actually transphobic and that I just didn't understand it... All while the great majority of the people defending it in my mentions are just angrily calling me a man,” tweeted Moore.
But quick to respond fans of the special called her out yet again. “I guess writing an entire series about the struggles of POC and then turning around and going after a POC because they told jokes that rubbed you the wrong way is pretty ironic.”

An alarming number of people accused her of not watching the special till the end and going as far as to thank her for leaving Dear White People, because, “it hasn’t been good for a while…”
