Megan Thee Stallion is joining a growing list of celebrities who are opposing the Texas abortion law that was recently put in place. The Houston native is standing with her fellow women to call BS on this weird law, and quite frankly, it’s the wrong time to be attempting to put a law like this in place.

Not On My Watch
The rapper shared the post on Instagram. “Y’all know I’m a Texas girl and we deserve better!” the “Savage” rapper alongside the “I Opposed the Texas abortion ban” poster that other celebs have been using as well.
“Politicians want to cut off abortion access and control our bodies, lives, and futures — I’m speaking up. Take action today and text ACCESS to 22422.” The proud Texan refused to co-sign the new law attempting to tell women what’s what. She ended her post, #BansOffOurBodies.

Wait, What Law?
The new ruling that politicians in the state of Texas voted for in May and implemented beginning Sept. 1 doesn’t allow abortions after a heartbeat is detected. This usually occurs six weeks into a pregnancy.
Unfortunately, that is not enough time for women to know if they are pregnant and then figure out if moving forward with the pregnancy is what is best for them. Making matters worse this law does not account for women who are pregnant due to traumatic experiences.

The ban signed into law by Gov. Greg Abbott does not allot for women who have become pregnant due to rape, incest, or any other forms of sexual assault. Also, what does this mean for the doctors who choose to go against the ban and provide what would now be illegal services to women in need?
Megan Is Not Alone
As mentioned, Thee Stallion isn’t alone in her crusade for women’s rights in her home state. Pink and Reese Witherspoon were some of the first celebs to come forward to call out the sketchy law. “I stand with the women of Texas who have the Constitutional right to make decisions about their health and their own bodies,” tweeted Witherspoon.
Scandal actress Kerry Washington was also unimpressed with the reckless law. “We should all be able to make our own decisions about our health & future. We have to fight for everyone’s reproductive freedom. Join me in standing with the women of Texas, sign the petition.”

The list is steadily growing with Amy Schumer tweeting. “The newest Texas abortion ban, #SB8, gives politicians, neighbors, and even strangers the right to sue those who provide — or just help patients get — abortion after 6 wks. The time to fight for our reproductive health & rights is now!”
Megan Thee Activist
The “Thot S**t” rapper also joins Cyndi Lauper and Lizzo, who did an IG live essentially telling the politicians involved to back off and “stay the f**k out of people’s bodies business”. She is quickly becoming an activist.
The 5’9 rapper in the past has shared her opinions on people minding their own business when it comes to her body, how she dresses, and who she is dating. She has also unintentionally become an activist for gun violence after the incident involving Tory Lanez in 2020.
