After their wedding in 2011, Prince William and Kate Middleton were on a high. The world fell in love with the couple who had been together for a decade, after meeting as students at the University Of St Andrews.
After three children, and countless royal engagements and tours, these two have shown they have what it takes to take over the monarchy when William becomes King.
From their easygoing nature to their fairy tale love story, they’ve proved they are a couple of the moment (even with a little competition from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.)
They may be royals (though Kate was a commoner before she married William), but they are keen to show how much they care about everyday people.
The couple will appear on Mary Berry’s Christmas special A Very Berry Christmas, and recent previews showed William talking about his children.
The Duke opened up about the questions they ask when they see homeless people. William said, “On the school run already, bear in mind they’re six and four, whenever we see anyone who is sleeping rough on the streets, I talk about it and I point it out and I explain why and they’re all very interested. ‘They’re like: ”Why can’t they go home?”.’
William followed in his mother’s footsteps when he began supporting Centrepoint, a charity for young homeless people.
This royal couple has almost never put a toe wrong, especially Kate, who didn’t even grow up in the royal family.
While they are keen to modernize the monarchy and don’t want to appear too stuffy, they still appear to want to keep some traditional elements.
In October, Kate was spotted picking out Halloween things at Sainsbury’s for the children, and just a few weeks later she met up with other mothers from her kids school for a low-key pub night.
Though the couple tries hard to please the Queen and does their royal duties well, they still find time to be normal.
Alongside her husband, Kate will one day lead the monarchy, so who else is a better teacher than the Queen herself?
Royal expert Katie Nicholl spoke to Ok! Magazine about Kate’s easy relationship with the Queen, saying, “Both women are actually quite shy so it’s taken time for them to get to this stage, but they have a very easy relationship now they’ve both made the effort. The Queen loves seeing Kate because it’s an opportunity to spend time with her and hear how her great grandchildren are doing.”
While we all remember that infamous breakup of 2007 (they were still so young, give them a break!) it appears this is a couple that is going from strength to strength.
After three children, and almost 9 years of marriage, they have found an ease and security with each other that is very apparent when they’re in public together.
They’ve even become more affectionate in public thanks to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle it seems, and it appears their marriage is stronger than ever.
After all those scandalous divorces that happened within the royal family, it’s refreshing to see the future King and Queen consort looking so in love.
William and Kate are clearly a couple that are beloved and will bring the monarchy into a period of stability.
