Deadpool is easily the most popular Marvel hero (or rather, anti-hero) to come out of 20th Century Fox Studios. He's hilarious, he swears, he breaks the fourth wall, and he's wildly unpredictable. Ryan Reynolds gets full credit for not only bringing Deadpool to life on-screen but also for making sure that everything was done right.

The X-Men are likewise owned by Fox, but their movies (particularly their most recent ones), haven't achieved nearly the same level of success as Deadpool has.

Fans Want To See Deadpool in the MCU

The X-Men movies, which are owned by 20th Century Fox, have received a decidedly lackluster response. Their most recent films have not been especially successful, particularly with the bomb that was Dark Phoenix this past summer.

In his past two movies, Deadpool regularly interacts with the X-Men (since they're the only other Marvel heroes Fox owns), but fans are far more interested in seeing how Deadpool would do interacting with the MCU superheroes, which has a better Marvel track record than Fox.

It Didn't Look Likey At First

For a while, it didn't look like a Deadpool-MCU crossover would ever happen. After all, Deadpool and the X-Men were owned by Fox. But Disney recently acquired Fox earlier this year, so it looks far more likely that Deadpool could make an appearance.

Over the summer, we saw the quarreling and constant negotiations between Marvel and Sony regarding Spider-Man. It almost ended with Spider-Man being pulled out of the MCU for good. However, Tom Holland's efforts saved Spider-Man from exiting and a new deal was reached by the two studios.

Kevin Feige Has Been Dropping Heavy Hints

During a recent interview Marvel president Kevin Feige was asked about the likelihood of X-Men and Deadpool joining the MCU. While vague, Feige seemed to strongly hint that we would be seeing these characters from Fox merged into the MCU.

“Is there any reason to believe they would not be integrated with the Avengers and these characters as well at some point?” Feige was asked during the interview.

“No. No reason to believe that,” Feige answered.

It certainly does sound like a crossover could be coming in the next few years.

It Could Happen In 2021

Now that Disney has rights, it looks more likely that Deadpool will at least make one MCU appearance. According to some inside sources, We Got This Covered has predicted that Deadpool might make an appearance in the 2021 movie, Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.

It would seem that Dr. Strange might have an encounter with Deadpool during his dimension-hopping throughout the multiverse.

It might not be a long encounter, but it would surely be a notable one. And who knows where it could lead in the future>
