Jessica Walter may be gone, but not forgotten.
The comedic actress is most notably known for her role as the martini drinking, curse word slinging matriarch of the Bluth Family, Lucille Bluth, on “Arrested Development.”
The actress also lent her voice to the animated character, Malory Archer, in the hit FXX show, “Archer.”
Jessica unexpectedly passed away in March at 80-years-old. At the time of her death, no cause of death was given but it was reported she passed away peacefully in her sleep.
“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of my beloved mom Jessica,” Walters’ daughter, Brooke Bowman, told Deadline. “A working actor for over six decades, her greatest pleasure was bringing joy to others through her storytelling both on-screen and off. While her legacy will live on through her body of work, she will also be remembered by many for her wit, class and overall joie de vivre.”
Rest In Peace!
While Jessica passed in March, she still had some unfinished business on “Archer.”
Season 12 of the hilarious animated series came to a close on Wednesday, October 6, but not without sending out a loving tribute to Malory Archer and Jessica.
“With respect to Jessica’s privacy, we only learned she wasn’t returning to ‘Archer’ shortly before she passed,” executive producer Casey Willis said in a statement to The Post. “We had to go back and alter the episodes we hadn’t completed with Jessica and wanted to end the season with a scene that honored her.”
Jessica’s character served as the alcohol-slinging, foul-mouthed spy boss mother to the show’s main character, Sterling Archer.
Wednesday’s finale episode opened with Sterling reading a letter from his mother, who disappeared during a mission, to his fellow spy agency colleagues.
“Do you remember what I told you on your very first day of training? You probably don’t, but it was ‘Always know where the exits are.’ And with all the chaos and confusion of late, I thought I would fix to make my own exit, in my own time, on my own terms and in a way that I could never be found by my enemies, or all my lovesick paramours who are literally countless,” the note read before caustically adding, “so I’ve decided that it’s time to pass the torch; try not to burn yourselves with it.”
The note continued, “And I know my decision may be abrupt, but we don’t always get to choose the perfect moment. Take care of yourselves, especially you, my Sterling, because from wherever I am, I’ll be watching over you. Love, Mother.”
The episode cut to Malory on a beach, hand-in-hand with her husband Ron Cadillac.
