The British Royal Family has not had an easy year, and it seems they’re hanging on by a thread. With the Prince Andrew scandal making headlines every single day, and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle receiving negative press attention, it wouldn’t be surprising if Christmas at Sandringham was a bit awkward this year.
Not only is there drama going on in public, but the behind the scenes tension must be at an all-time high.
Suffice it to say, Prince Andrew has found himself in deep trouble this year, and he seems to keep digging himself even further into a hole full of accusations and photos that don’t look good.
His dumpster fire BBC interview only served to make him look worse, and now with the recent Panorama interview with his accuser, Virgnia Giuffre, things are going to get a whole lot worse.
After being stripped of all royal duties, he won’t have anything to work on next year, so what will Prince Andrew do next?
Many are calling on him to help the FBI with their investigation, and he has claimed he would do that. However, up to this point he has not made good on that promise. Will he next year? Let’s hope so, considering he has a pretty open schedule at this point.
After a tough year full of media criticism for just about everything, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are currently taking a 6 week break from royal duties.
They recently spent the Thanksgiving holidays in the U.S. with Meghan’s mother and other close family and will not be attending Christmas at Sandringham this year.
They’ve faced accusations of hypocrisy this year after flying by private jet on vacation multiple times and gave an interview during their tour of Africa that didn’t look good, considering the location of where they gave it.
Let’s hope that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are able to turn things around in 2020. In September, Meghan announced they would be launching their charity, Sussex Royal, next year, and many bookmakers have slashed the odds on another royal baby for the couple.
It started with rumors of a feud between their wives, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, however, it later came out that the real rift was between Princes William and Harry.
There were claims that Prince William had expressed concern about his brother rushing into marriage with Meghan, and things seemed to go downhill from there.
While the two brothers have always been close, they seemed to drift further and further apart after Meghan and Harry’s 2018 wedding, and the birth of baby Archie, even splitting their households.
Prince Harry made comments during his interview in Africa about both of them being on “different paths,” and many saw this as a confirmation of problems between the two.
Will they mend their rift next year? With Prince Harry staying away from Sandringham this Christmas, it appears things may become even worse.
After his tough decision-making surrounding the Prince Andrew scandal, it appears Prince Charles proved himself worthy of taking over the throne.
With the Queen getting older and passing on more and more official duties to her son, it has been reported Prince Charles may even take over as Prince Regent.
However, inside sources at the palace have rubbished these claims, saying, they sounded “more like a plot line from The Crown rather than the truth.”
The royal family was on such a high in the years after Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding, but things have taken an unfortunate dive south. Will the royals be able to turn things around next year? We’ll have to wait and see!
