Girl Power! Eva Longoria Calls Out 'Toxic' NBC In Support Of Gabrielle Union

For many days now, since it was revealed that Gabrielle Union will not be returning to "America's Got Talent" as a judge, NBC has been at the receiving end of criticisms and protests from fans of the actress. Union was told she would not be returning to the show after she talked about the issues it was facing and this did not sit well with several people on social media, including celebrities. To show support for her friend and former colleague, Longoria sent a clear message to NBC.

Longoria tweeted a photo of a petition made by "Times Up," telling NBC to quit defending powerful men, only to lose its hard-workers. Union went on to say that this behavior by the network was creating a toxic work environment for different people. She also mentioned that NBC had a lot of work to do when it came to culture discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.

"Times Up" defended Union's decision to leave the show as that shows that she is not a coward and she is not scared of speaking up when she needs to.

"Times Up" encouraged NBC to take drastic steps in repairing its structure as this could become a problem for them. Aside from Eva Longoria, other notable stars who rose to Union's defense includes; Debra Messing, Ariana Grande, Ellen Pompeo, and Lin-Manuel Miranda.

According to "Variety News," one of the reasons why Gabrielle Union and her fellow judge, Julianne Hough were fired from the show was because there were several reports of their dressing. In addition to this, Union was also fired because her hairstyles were termed 'too black.'

This report on Union's hairstyle was said to have been reported more than a dozen times and the network had to fire her for it. However, Hough on the other hand said she had no knowledge of these allegations as she had a swell time on the show.

Another report also mentioned that Union went as far as encouraging the producers of the show to reprimand Jay Leno, who made an offensive joke as a guest judge on the show.

The final report stated that Union was not intrigued when one of the contestants came on the show for season 14 and made offensive comments about people of color. After hearing these reports, NBC disclosed that they were conferring with the actress to hear her side of the story before making a decision.

In an announcement, NBC mentioned that all the network had done for years, is maintain a honest and conducive working environment for people and it would continue to do so.
